Anyone else not decorating this year?

I don't think I am decorating at all this year. I have a small village, 2 Christmas trees (one entirely Disney themed), and of course a ton of other decorations. But we are going to my in laws for Thanksgiving and Christmas so it seems kind of not worth it to drag everything out for only a few weeks and not even to enjoy over Christmas, and then to pack it all up before going back to school and work.

Combine that with the fact that we have 2 young cats that think the entire world exists for them to play in and destroy. I think my tree topper would end up changing from this:

to this:

and back again! All my ornaments would just be in a broken pile on the floor, the stockings would end up in shreds, and my village would have cats peeking out of it.

I love Christmas and am feeling a little sad about not decorating, but it really isn't worth it. Even my girls said it would be silly to even try.

IMO - If you don't want to do it because you don't want to, then fine, but don't NOT decorate just because your not going to be there on the exact day of Christmas. I LOVE seeing my tree and everything else every day its up before and after Christmas. Maybe only do half of it??

Nope not doing it. We are going to the inlaws for Christmas which I'm not 100% thrilled about. I think my kids should be home but DH thinks otherwise. Since the inlaws offered to foot the bill and we've never been there for Christmas I agreed.

We are going to my mom's for Thanksgiving.

So I don't see the point of doing all that work to not be here.

I'd rather just skip to Jan. The thought of all the travel. Delaying shopping or shipping things. The hassle of it all has sucked all the fun out of Christmas for me.

Are you going to be gone for a long period of time or just Christmas day?

I'd hate not to have a tree with lights on in December, but I guess if I was going to be gone for a week or two, I might not decorate.

No decorating here this year.....were hoping to be moved to our new house in AZ. Not.....all the decorations have already been moved down there.
We will be there starting on Dec. 18....so if any decorating is getting done, it will be DD doing it before we get there.

Were not decorating, mainly because of remodeling. Did not decorate last year either. same reason. I'm on my 18th month of my 1 year remodel project. still have about 5 months to go.

This will be my third year of not decorating and I don't miss it at all.

We won't be back from Thanksgiving until late Sunday, and we will probably be gone over Christmas for at least a week. We were gone almost 2 weeks last year and I had decorated. It was really a pain to take it all down. I did think about just putting up a tree with lights only-- I do love the the lights at night.

I love my inlaws and we enjoy going there. I gave my girls a choice of staying here or going there and they wanted to go. Not a whole lot of travel but I guess I really should start shopping. . .

Well, I bow down to you because I couldn't do that much travel (I mean family travel, not travel travel ) around the holidays. Last year we were gone all of November-the first week of Dec and the first week of Jan and we decorated, but like I said, I couldn't not have the lights. And I made dh put up the Village while the kids and I were in NoDak....
Yeah, I'm no help.

Just put up a tree with lights. Lots of lights.

I am not putting up a tree this year but I'm decorating with other stuff. We are leaving for WDW on the 17th so we'll be gone through Christmas. Plus our tree requires rearranging of furniture...

I know I'd be sad without anything put out so we'll decorate everything but the tree.

Maybe I should see if that fills the void for me!

Bomb, my inlaws only live about 1.5 hours away so it really isn't a bunch of travel. DH has done the round trip in one evening when needed.

Well my inlaws are 10 hours on flights, layovers and several time zones.

We are staying nearly 2 weeks.

I feel bad a bit about it because my dad will be here with our cats. Maybe I'll do a little for him. He won't really care though.

Then I REALLY bow down to you because round trip in one evening would be exactly what I'd be doing.

I'm kidding (sort of). Thanksgiving is at the in-laws this year, but my parents are flying here for Christmas.

I have two sick kids who need to get better before they can get on that airplane Wednesday.

That's a long time to be away for the holidays.
