Large family question
My friend is interested in staying on property, and I'm looking at options for her. Their family includes DH41, DW34, DS8, DS6, DD2, DD6mths. Aside from the space issue, is POR even possible? I know about AsMu suites. Which deluxe would work? I don't think they can afford WDWvillas, but maybe even DTD area?
any help is appreciated! |

Any of the deluxes with a daybed would work, like CR and BW. The baby does not count towards occupancy.

well, the AB side of POR has a small trundle bed. But floor space is fairly limited. it would be a tight squeeze to have the trundle out and a pack and play in there.
for our Dec trip, it was actually cheaper to get two rooms at POP than it was to try and get a moderate or SOG (our other option, b/c it sleeps 5). I figured we'd be better off with two bathrooms, two sinks, etc. |

I'd also suggest 2 connecting rooms at a value or try a cabin at FW. It was great!

AB at POR would be too tight. Look at the FW cabins, the All Star Family Suites or the Garden Wing rooms at the CR for less expensive options. Also look into borrowing DVC points for a two bedroom villa.

Our family of six has tried many options over the years. Two connecting rooms at the resort you can afford is my preference. Mainly because you have two bathrooms and the option to put some of the younger ones to bed earlier without everyone else having to go at the same time. My second choice would be the cabins at FW. Only one bathroom, but you have a real bedroom that sleeps four and a murphy bed in the living room. Although we never cooked, it is nice to have the kitchen for a quick cereal/bagel kind of breakfast to save a couple of bucks. We did stay at the Poly once with five of us in one room (oldest, then 17, didn't want to go....can you believe it!!) It was great having the chance to stay at the Poly (couldn't have afforded two rooms!), but one bathroom and everyone in one room (kids were teens then) was not fun! It really depends on how much they want to spend.
Hope this helps.

She has the exact same scenario I had last spring! We did the family suites, which I loved because each of my 3 older kids got their own bed in the living area, DH & I had a queen in the bedroom, with the pack n play in there for the baby. My 2.5yo DD slept on the pull out club chair, which added some "rails" up near the top from the arms of the chair and avoided her falling off in the middle of the night.
You get the kitchenette with a fridge & microwave, plus 2 full size bathrooms in the fam suites as well. These can be great for a quick breakfast, or any needs for milk & such. A problem I can see with the cabins is that you really loose space for the baby in a pack n play, and while her older kids could do the bunk beds... or the 8yo on the reg bed, the 6yo on the top bunk, and putting the 2 yr old in the bottom bunk... I'd worry about my 2yo falling off. I don't know how comfy it'd be for 2 pack n plays... plus there isn't really a seperate "room" to put them in to help the babies sleep. This year I plan to put my 20mo in a pack n play in the "closet" area of one of the bathrooms of the fam suites, so that she isn't in our room. She will sleep much better in there! |

Just got back on November 23 after spending 9 nights at POR with 4 kids (8,6,4,2) It was fine. We had the pack-n-play out and the trundle bed. All we really did was sleep there, so it worked out great and it saved us about $800 from the family suite.
The next time we go, the baby will be 3, so we are forced to go to the family suites or 2 value rooms
