Is there a market at Disney for a small adults-only resort?

It seems like there are a lot of honeymooners, DINKs and retirees who would appreciate a small resort at Disney that was adults-only. It could be priced differently if necessary, etc. I'm just imagining that many adults would appreciate a kid-free pool, kid-free dining areas, and some adult targeted amenities.

Granted, if you're going to Disney, you're going to see LOTS of kids, but it just seems like there might be a market for it.

I'm sure there is a market for it, but remember the outcry here when Victoria & Alberts announced that they would not be allowing children under 10.

So you can imagine the outcry that folks would say "their" darlings wouldn't upset the other adults there!!

Only to the extent that it would encourage more people to come who otherwise wouldn't, or people who do come now to come more frequently (or pay more when they do come.)

The problem with the idea is that the rest of the World is pretty much a kid-infested place, so just having an adults-only resort doesn't get you very far---as soon as you leave your resort's boundaries, bam, there are kids.

My sense is that *most* people who truly want to get away from kids would rather go to a more "adult" destination, so the market would be pretty small. Given that Disney has a limited amount of capital to invest, they might prefer to invest it trying to address a larger potential market.

There's a market for anything Disney sells but they really don't need it.

I think it would be acceptable even if they had an adults only pool area. I don't go in the hot tubs there because they are normally crawling with kids. Diapers do not belong in hot tubs.

I agree! I go so far as to say they don't belong in any of the pools even with the swimming pool diapers.

Along with the jubilation of shutting down PI night clubs, you practically took the words out of my mouth.

It's never going to happen but I dont really think it should either although I do think there should be more rooms with King Beds!!!!

My take on the topic is that a small resort that catered to adults would be a good idea. I don't see Disney building one though - it would cost too much.

But it a resort were to be done on a small exclusive scale with king beds in the rooms and jacuzzi tubs, and the cost was greater than that of GF with true concierge service, then I could see a lot of DINKS or couples on their honeymoons or anniversary trips staying there.

A lot of adults love going to WDW as much as kids do, and if WDW was a place just meant for kids then it would only have kid orientated activities and resemble a glorified Chucky Cheese.

DH and I are going on our own for NYE and are going to stay at BWI. If there was a resort for just adults then we would be staying there for sure.

Except for V&A, Jelly Rolls and Atlantic Dance Club...what is not kid oriented at DW? I dont think it resembles Chucky Cheese but I feel the "dink" demographic is grossly overlooked in DW.

It probably won't happen, but I see no reason that it "should not" happen. There are plenty of Disney fans out there who don't have kids and who would like a romantic getaway. Disney even advertises to that demographic.

Anyone who just plain dislikes children should steer clear of WDW but I see nothing wrong with adults wanting to spend some of their time at the World in an adult-only pool, hot tub, and restaurant or two, etc.

Since it probably won't happen, I think the GF is the closest you can come currently by staying on-site.
