Disney in 5 days and 3 kinda sick kids!

We are leaving for Florida on Wednesday late afternoon/early evening. We're stopping at my DFIL house for Thanksgiving and then heading to Disney on Friday morning... And as of last night my oldest DS had a slight fever, but was fine this morning, my oldest DD has a stuffy nose and cough and the "baby" has been coughing all morning! The 2 oldest only have school today and tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should keep them home to try and fight it off before our trip?!? If they are sick at all on Wed. we won't go, period! I'm not going to take a chance on that. WWYD?

This may be an expensive option, but would you consider getting them to the doc today to make sure there aren't any ear infections or anything?

I agree that it might be worth a quick trip to the doctor. At least that way, you might be able to find out what you're up against.

We leave Friday too, and DD started with a fever last Friday, but fortunately she's over it now...no other symptoms. Why does this always seem to happen when you're going on a trip!? Honestly it seems like its just be a sick Fall for everyone.

I think a lot of people take their kids to DW even if they're "kind of sick". I think that is a huge factor when it comes to people getting sick at DW. Most of the families I've known have some back sick (H1N1), so I appreciate that you said you wouldn't go if your kids are still sick!

If they are not going to miss to much I say let them stay out.

After rereading your post, I think you were asking more about keeping them home from school rather than going/not going on the trip...sorry.

I think I would reassess tonight and again in the morning. If they aren't a whole lot better, I wouldn't hesitate to keep them home. I really don't think they get much accomplished the last day before a holiday break, and it might make enough of a difference that you'll still be able to go.

Good luck!

This might not be the popular response, but I would keep them home and let them rest up before the trip.

I too always have the kids that get sick either before or during a Disney trip and I all but try and quarantine them before we go One year all three kids vomited on the plane on the way home from DW! It was lovely.

If they haven't missed too many days of school, try and get them better before we go.

Good luck and hope you have a healthy trip. If not, the Lake Buena Vista walk-in is very good. I know from experience...

Well I can't get them into the Dr's... But I think I'm going to see how they are doing tonight and tomorrow morning, and keep them home to rest up, if needed. Why oh why couldn't it have waited till next week?!? Thank you for all advice! You can always count on the Dis!
