Any possible way to xfer barely-used MYW ticket?

When we visited WDW back in May of this year I bought 10 day MYW tickets for myself, my wife, my daughter, and my mother-in-law. These tickets had everything on them - Park Hopper, WPF&M, and No Expiration, so they were quite pricy. That week in May was one of the rainiest weeks ever in Orlando, so as a result we only used 2 major park admissions on our tickets.

We are returning to WDW this coming Friday. However, this time my mother-in-law decided not to come with us and has determined that she will most likely never visit WDW again - partly due to her age, and partly due to not having any interest in returning.

Here's my dilemma - is there ANY way to transfer the remaining admissions on her ticket to my son, who recently turned 3 years old? I'm even willing to pay the adult rate for my son if I can merely change the name on my MIL's MYW ticket.

Your best bet is just to speak with guest relations when you get there. You're only going to find the standard answer online or from other posters. Even CheshireFigment will tell you no.
But sometimes these things can go case by case when you speak to some one at the window. Maybe they're give you a partial refund of the ticket that you can use towards your son's ticket.
Don't go in looking for something to happen, but be pleasantly surprised if it does.

Would it be possible to upgrade this ticket to an annual pass?

No because its past the 14 days of first use and even if you could, it would still be the original person's ticket.

To the OP, the only way this will happen is with some pixie dust from Disney.

I would just call Disney and say that you need it replaced and they should have it in their system and that way the new one will not be linked to anyone but the new person who will be using it. Good Luck!!

I know this won't help you but I always buy the seniors in my group expiring tickets for the number of days we are there. I know this is more expensive if they come the next year but I figure somewhere along the line they will suddenly stop and better not to have the 10 day max ticket.

Talk to guest services and hopefully they will work with your family.

Not to sound morbid but -- After your mother in law passes away, the ticket becomes part of her estate and Disney may permit the heir who receives it to use what is left on it, by presenting the death certificate at Guest Relations.

Sorry but no guarantee. At one time regular tickets, which were all non-expiring, were touted as "good for any X days out of the rest of your life".

As far as "is there any way" goes for the near future, tickets once used are non-transferable. Disney has no way of knowing MIL won't come back and she is not the oldest person who ever visited.

Normally in order for a lost or damaged ticket to be replaced, information such as a receipt with the ticket number on it, or the ticket itself with either the magnetic stripe or the printed codes still readable, must be given, so the amount of usage and also the old finger scan can be applied to the replacement ticket.

Teacher calls on you to come up front and read your composition or essay out loud and a classmate just read his about the same subject.
Read yours from start to finish without regard to what your classmate said.

Replacing the ticket only replaces the physical card, it doesn't reset anything.

The central computer still has all the info, number of days left and finger scan data, so it won't do any good.

I never thought of this also being something to think about when deciding on NE or not, life expectancy.

Adds a new twist to "do the math".

Actually you are incorrect in this matter. You CAN upgrade a non-expiring ticket to an Annual pass. However, the renewal date will be one year from the first date you used the ticket. It may be a better deal just to keep the tickets. It must be made into an annual pass for the person's name on the ticket.

This is not correct.

When a ticket is replaced for any reason (demagnetized, lost, upgraded, etc.) the replacement ticket contains all the usage of the original ticket in its history and also the biometrics string. All of this information is stored in the Automated Ticketing System Computer. The only information actually stored on the ticket is the serial number and what kind of ticket it is (base, hopper, number of days, etc.).

Other than a Florida Resident Play-3 or Play-4 ticket or any variety of Annual Pass, no ticket can be upgraded or modified in any way more than 14 days from date of first use, even if the No Expire option has been purchased.

Only if it has never been used. From the stickey.

Guests are able to upgrade or modify their MYW tickets any time within 14 days of first use, regardless of whether the No Expiration Option is purchased. After 14 days no ticket modifications or upgrades may take place.
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...62&postcount=7

In this case the OP is referring to a used ticket.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll see if Guest Services can cut me a break when we arrive this Friday. If not, it's no big deal.
