Budget Conscious Cruisers...buy your wardrobe now!! :)

My kids have nothing formal, we just don't get that many opportunities, but when I saw the look in my daughters' eyes when they saw something a bit fluffy and girlie and said, "Mom, don't we have a formal night?" I could not resist!! I was able to buy 4 'party dresses' & 4 sundresses for $47!!! I then went upstairs to the mens dept...found $80 pair of shorts for $4 a piece!! I got 9 pieces (4 shirts, 5 shorts) for $45!!! When we added up how much they were not on sale those 9 items would have cost over $700!!! You can't even find deals like that at the thrift store!!

One department store had all their summer stuff at 70% off then an additional 30% off that...and all their swimsuits were $1.99! I'm in the south, so for you folks up north the summer stuff may already be gone, but there are great sales racks, you just have to go hunt them out!

This was at Dillard's, we don't have a Macy's or Nordstrom's but I bet they have the same thing!!

Good luck!!

Tara

Wow! Glad you got good deals on fancy duds.
Do remember, no one would have ever paid the full over $700 price. Stores inflate the tag price something awful!

I would agree. I just bought a $70 dress for formal night for $9 and picked up another one for $4.99. They are way cute too. Awesome. We don't have "real" stores to shop at around here....just Walmart. So, I do most of my shopping online. You can generally get all of the great deals online that you normally would get in the stores.

I would love for any that shop online to tell their faves...I have had the hardest time finding appropriate dresses for my 10 & 11 year old! Everything in major dept stores looks too 'flashy' or gapes wide open in areas you don't want it to...I used to shop at Talbots for kids but they closed...Land's End doesn't have anything in its outlet that would qualify as sundress/semi-formal and didn't find anything at LLBean etc. I usually shop at Sierra Trading Post but I really wanted my girls to be able to try them on...I feel like I must be missing the good deals...Hanna Andersson used to have 80% off deals, but now you rarely even see 40% off...I like to buy better quality clothes because the girls are just 1 year apart and need it to last many washings.

I found a great little dress by Jody California?? They actually sell their dresses online, but the one I found was at the department store and it's very well made, I got it for $6!! They have one on sale at their website that is $38..I just like the steals over the deals! But I can recommend them...

Any others??

Tara

Cool

Up north here my DH just got a couple pairs of $40 shorts for $1.99 each- he is always so lucky like that, not me!
