More adults fewer children? Oh my!

I noticed on our most recent cruise a lot more adults and fewer children than on past cruises. It's probably due to school being in session-it's very difficult to get kids out of school especially for a whole week. I think Disney cruises are great for adults. In fact I think they should have maybe one cruise a year that is adults only. But come on, this is DISNEY! There should be Lots of children cruising. Still, I hope it is not a trend towards the traditional cruiser demographic-(retired older couples)

DCL like any holiday or vacation will be effected by school holidays, I know in our country there is considerable problems taking kids out of school in term time.

school

Yes, some school systems get in a real, what I call, "hissy fit" if a child is not there for even one day. It's not necessarily their love for education, it's that many shcool systems are funded from the state based on attendance. Perhaps, this is a whole other thread I have touched on here.

Luckily our school was understanding (not happy, just no big deal).
I had the kids do homework onboard in the afternoons, (no easy task).

Yes, firstly I do not feel it will change DCL's demographic, have to say Princess cruises had a far older profile on the cruises we were on.

I have an issue, in 2010 the last Baltic cruise leaves 7/18 From Dover, I knew it would take the kids out of school between 2 and 5 days pre our school summer holiday, the school will be annoyed, but for Son hes swapping schools anyway to seniors so not too much of a problem, exams over, they wont be doing much then.

I think the cruise from Dover, England an hour away from us, and also being so educational going to all thoose places, is worth it, for a row with the school.

My Med cruise in 2011 was booked 7/30 to avoid School term looks like being canceled so causes a big issue as the cruise before still on sale will eat in 5 days of term, not doing it two years in a row, and for a cruise I had done before.

The first thing we are going to do when DS goes to college is do a 7-night during the school year. It's something we haven't been able to do and we're looking forward to the price break. As it stands now, we can only do a 3 night assuming we work a scheduled day off into it. He can't miss more than that and monkeys will fly from my you know what before I pay premium holiday prices.

One of my favorite parts of WDW or DCL trips is watching the little kids be so excited. It brings me a lot of joy and I'm sure there will always be toddlers and elementary aged kids around.

You know, I take back my previous propostiton that there be an ocassional adult only cruise. What really makes the cruises great for the adults---is the kids!

We've cruised twice in Oct and once in July with DCL. I agree, there were less kids on the Oct. cruises and a ton on the July one. The down side to less kids is that Serenity Bay was much more crowded during Oct. while in July we practically had it to ourselves.
