keeping meds cold on a plane

Hello! I just realized that I have a medication that will need to be kept cool on our flight. Airtran does not offer refridgeration, and the airlines restrictions are so tight lately that I am not sure what to do. THe medication will need to be kept cool for at least 8 hours until our fridge arrives in the hotel. Any ideas? I thought about ice packs, but I am not sure they will keep cool long enough...

I would use ice pack to get you to the resort (for medical reasons the airline has to allow as long as you declare right from the start that it is for that reason) and then take the medication to either bell services where they can put it in the fridge for you, or if you are headed to the parks take it to first aid.

I would suggest you go to www.coolerconcept.com and look at the Frio Cold Packs. They will keep contents below 70 in 100 degree conditions for 48 hours. And even lower when the outside temperature is lower. It will be about 50 when outside at room temperature.

I have taken meds on a flight before that required refrigeration. As long as you have it out for them to look at you shouldn't have any problems. As far as keeping it cold...can't help you there. We were OK with ice packs.

I always use ice packs and then add ice at the hotel if needed until our room is ready! As long as the cooler remains closed and not opened often they do last.

Remember to keep it in its original container with the prescription information with it (prescribing MD, what it is etc...)

Thanks, I was able to order a travel medical cooler that has ice packs included, and is guaranteed for up to 15 hours. I will also be able to keep my other meds in there as well so everything will be in one place for security to check!
