Something Different, or Familiar and Loved?

Hey, all!

I'm planning a trip for March and have just started thinking about meals. There are certain restaurants I absolutely positively have to go to each and every time. The way some people think of rides ("It ain't a trip to Disney unless I go on Space Mountain!"), I think of food/restaurants. For example, I always have to hit Boma at LEAST once, as well as the Primetime 50's Cafe and Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom.

There are other restaurants I've long thought about going to, but never actually squeezed into my itinerary, such as Le Celliar at Epcot.

And there are a couple I avoid like the plague, having been there once and said "never, ever again." (Yeah, I'm talkin' to you, Sci-Fi Drive In.)

So sell me on your favorite spot. I want to try something new, but have to be convinced it'll be worth skipping a place I know and love.

Everyone looks for something different and good is in the taste buds of the beholder, but we also love 50's Primetime and Boma, so perhaps our tastes are similar. We love Liberty Tree Tavern, and though we have heard varied reviews on service and food there, we have always found both to be excellent - never been disappointed.

Our favoriates are The Wave (in the Contemporary resort) and Le Cellier -- neither can be beat for the atmosphere, service and food. Love-love-love them!

We will never, ever again set foot in the Sci-Fi Diner -- terrible service, blah-greasy food, and a long wait only not to enjoy it.

For my family it's Crystal Palace dinner (hubby loves the shrimp & we all love the Pooh characters); Kona dinner (not high on ambiance but the food is absolutely delish); and Le Cellier dinner (this is where we had the best meal of our honeymoon--great service, delightful staff, and amazing food). For us these meals are almost as important as seeing Wishes and riding Test Track in terms of being part of what makes the WDW experience different from our "home park" of Disneyland.

Boma & Tusker House for me! Biergarten for my husband! We went to Sci-fi this last time and while I'm glad we went once for the "atmosphere", I wouldn't pay to go there again, the food was pretty blah.

Hoping to find even more favorites this time, but eventually you end up with so many that there's no room for new places, right???

Our must-do restaurants are Ohana and Coral Reef.

We have to do Teppan Edo each trip! We also love Beirgarten. This one was low on my list to try, then we did and LOVED it! I also love Brown Derby. It is the only place at Hollywood Studios (is that what they call it now? I still think MGM!!) I really like. Brown Derby is 2TS.

Our must dos are CRT and CP for the kids every trip. Biergarten for me and LeCellier for DP. We only get to go every other trip the kids get every trip. Hmmm . Maybe we need to change that!

We always go to the Crystal Palace every trip to Disney. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and every time has been great!!! Le Cellier has been great both times I have been!!! This trip I wanted to try some new places and we went to Ohana's for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. It was fantastic!!! We also tried Biergarten (which I was nervous about based on reviews) and we LOVED it. I have a 2 and 4 year old and there was plenty of food they enjoyed. Plus when the show started we didn't hear a peep out of them!!! I will recommend it to everyone for a new experience. We always go to Casey's corner for hot dogs, but sad to say they changed their buns to whole wheat (maybe?) and they were falling apart. The hot dogs were still great, but the buns made eating difficult!

I love Crystal Palace, too. I've done the Pooh buffet... breakfast, lunch, dinner... anytime! And we really enjoyed the breakfast at Chef Mickey's for character meal, too.

The Wave... never been there. Actually, I've never eaten anywhere at the Contemporary except Chef Mickey! I'll have to check that and Biergarten out!

We actually enjoyed our dinner at The Wave so much that we switched our ADR's mid trip to have a second dinner there. We also loved Ohana for dinner.

Our family is currently in *love* with 2 places from our last trip. The only "we must do again on our next trip" places for us are Tusker House breakfast and Teppan Edo for dinner. The kids would add Coral Reef to that list but we have eaten there the past 3 trips. It has been wonderful but Mommy needs something different so we couldn't "manage" to get an ADR for Dec.

We do have 2 places we will never do again and 1 place we will never try...but that is for a different thread.
