Give a day promo ticket used for upgrade with other discounts?

Hi,

I just read on another thread that you can use the "Give a Day" promo ticket to upgrade to an annual pass--that's nice! But...we are DVC members--does that mean we can use it to upgrade it, using the DVC discount pricing???

I read the Terms and Conditions on the Disney site and didn't see anything specific about this either way.

Thanks to anyone (Cheshire Figment, Robo????) who may know the answer!

I don't know this for sure.. but I would think they would allow that considering they allow it with other types of tickets and promotions.. I believe it was possible with the free birthday day from this year.

The value of the ticket is the gate price of a one-day, one-park, ticket. It can be used to upgrade to any thing from adding hopping or WPF&M all the way to a PAP.

And there is no such thing as "DVC Discount". There are three categories for Annual Passes: Tourist, DVC and Florida Resident. Each is its own pricing structure. A person can buy (or upgrade to) any ticket for which they are eligible.

Sorry, as far as the different categories are concerned, that's what I meant. I guess if I had thought more about it, I wouldn't have had to ask; it makes perfect sense.
Thanks so much for clarifying!!!

A lot of people get confused about the "DVC Discount", because that's how DVC words it on their site - but as CF said its not really a discount in the traditional sense, just a particular class of ticket.

Not only is this very true, but a Florida Resident Annual Pass (in all categories) costs less than the same DVC Pass.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack!

I've been wondering how we could use these too. I hope to have all three of us volunteer next year prior to our trip. Our current reservation has 5 day tickets (no water parks) with park hoppers so are you saying I can use these "get a day's" to put towards the value of a hopper, like a credit? I was thinking the only value we'd get out of them would be the special fast passes but if we could use them towards the purchase of the p/h that would be awesome!

Thank you!!

Heather

1- so are you saying I can use these "get a day's" to put towards the value of a hopper,

2- like a credit? I was thinking the only value we'd get out of them would be the special fast passes but if we could use them towards the purchase of the p/h that would be awesome!
1- You would not likely get any "change back" in the transaction.

2- The "hopper option" only costs $52. The one day admission is worth $79.

You can use the $79 per person (adult) towards the purchase of any tickets or upgrade. Just make sure that any ticket that you buy or are arranging as part of a package is priced at least $79 less than the ticket that you want to upgrade TOO.

This would not work.

By definition, an upgrade is taking one ticket and paying cash (or something similar) to come up with one ticket with more days and/or options. You cannot combine two tickets. (The only exception to this rule is if you have a one day water park ticket you can combine it with a regular MYW ticket (plus cash) to add the WPF&M option to the MYW ticket. But the Give a Day, Get a Day promotion does not give water park tickets.)

If you already have multi-day tickets there is no alternate similar to this year's Birthday Fun Card.

Your only options are the special fastpasses, special souveniers, or donate the ticket.

Thanks Robo! I was getting my hopes up that we could somehow make this work and get our hoppers with the promotion but it's not in the cards. We'll still volunteer because it's fun to help others.

I understand what you're explaining about the "upgrade" piece. We wouldn't be upgrading anything which is why it won't work! Oh well, it's nice this is being done and we can look forward to the special fastpasses or donate the tickets. Thanks for responding, I really appreciate it.
