Our dog

We put our dog to sleep yesterday. She had recently been diagnosed with cushings and had started treatment but it wasnt going well. The vet thinks she had more going on than just Cushings, but we tried treatment anyway. She went downhill more everyday and by yesterday I knew it was time. She was my best friend for 13 years, always had a great life, never knew any cruelty or mistreatment. She was my best friend.

RIP Rhoda 12/28/96-11/21/09
You were mama's girl and I love you!

So sorry. Even when you know it's the right thing to do it's still so hard. Our pets are definitely part of our family and bring us so much joy!

I can feel your pain. We had to put Shadow down in March and even now I still think of him and cry. It gets better but just like with a human (at least for me) it never goes away. I am sure you have gone to the Rainbow Bridge if not check it out. I also suggest when you are a little more able to deal read The Art of Racing in the Rain. It is written from the dog's perspective and while fiction it did make me feel better.

I am sorry for your loss and know how you feel
We had to put down our dog on Tuesday. We had Conan for 19 years. We got him from the pound and they said he was about 3 years old. Our vet said he was at least 5 due to the age and condition of his teeth. So he was between 22 to 25 year old. We couldn't prove it because we had no birth certificate but he was older than any of the dogs in the Guiness Book of records.
He is missed daily. I still go into the kitchen where his bed was and open the door to let him.
I had to take him to the vet and stayed with him while he fell asleep and then for the shot to stop his heart. It was very peaceful but hard to do.
We buried him in our backyard with the many cats, gerbils and other pets we had over the years, but Conan will be the one we always remember.

Blah. I really am so sorry.

I *dread* that day with my Charley. He'll only be *about* 4 in February (adopted) but I can't even think about it. Upsets me.

I'm truly sorry.

I'm sorry for your loss. We lost two dogs who had Cushings (& other issues). It seems to be a difficult disease to manage. Take care of yourself...
