Discovery Cove - few questions - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hello...we are thinking of booking this for our trip in August next year. I wonder if anyone can help me with a few specific questions.

There will be seven of us.....4 adults and 3 children. The youngest child will be 18 months...will she be allowed to do the dolphin swim?

Do all visitors pay the same price .. or is there a child price?

If we have an adult sit out (if necessary to look after the little one if she can't do it) does their ticket ...which is cheaper still cover them for the free pass to Seaworld, Busch Gardens etc.

Also if we book the DC day towards the end of our holiday will we still have the opportunity to make use of the free passes before the DC day?

Do they also have under 3's free like most of the other parks seem to?

Any input would be welcome....we'd love to do this.

Swimmers have to be at least age 6 http://www.discoverycove.com/Plan/FAQ.aspx#gpi4

Same price for all ages. age 2 and under are free.

Non swimmers still get admission to theme parks.

Yes you can do the parks before DC.

I found it very expensive for what it was, yes the park is very nice but thye interaction with the dolphins was abit contrived and seemed like another way of seaworld getting more money from you with the DVD.

Just wanted to say we went to Discovery cove and i thought it was amazing, yes pricey but a day we will never forget. We brought the DVD and photos of our dolphin experience and again very pricey but i saved and prepared my self for the cost. We really was made to feel like VIP's for the day, food was lovely and i couldn't fault the day at all. I did do this in 2005 so don't know how much has changed since then.

Same here! I did DC and the Dolphin Swim back in 2003 and it was one of the best experiences of my life! It's like paradise in the middle of a motorway, lol. Would definitely be going back next year but as boyfriend can't swim it'd most likely be a waste of time for us

I'd love to go back though!

We are going back next year. The last time we went to DC was in 2003 and really enjoyed it. It is a lovely relaxing day in the middle of a busy holiday. The food was lovely and we loved the swim with the dolphin.

It is even better now as you get more for your money, like a ticket to Seaworld, Busch Gardens or Aquatica which is good and also continential breakfast, which they didnt do in 2003.

If all adults want to do the dolphin swim - ask for different times for half of your party. That way you can also take photos / video of each other.

We have been twice and really enjoyed both, second time we didn't do the dolphin swim. Whilst it is not the cheapest day out it is all inclusive, including breakfast, dinner (as much as you want), drinks incl alcohol, snacks, ice cream etc.

It was not all inclusive when we went so that sounds good, however as an alternative consider seeing wild dolphins in a natural environment , one good place is in clearwater beach, there are many dolphin trips out of the harbour and you can get very close to them as they approach the boat.
I am not anti keeping dolphins in captivity and i know seaworld have an excellent record in looking after the animals and in conservation,however an earlier posters comments that Discovery Cove is " paradise in the middle of a motorway" sort of sums my feelings up.

As our trip next easter is mainly a 40th treat for the better half, we're definitely doing the dolphin swim, I'm sure she and DD will love it.

we very much enjoyed it...

by the way, the park was very nice when we ended up cancelling one of the swims....that is, i had made reservations for 4 of us to swim with dolphins, but on the day of our visit, only 3 of us actually did the dolphin swim....

i had made the reservations for all 4 of us several months in advance..

when the day arrived, my daughter couldn't actually swim with the dolphins for reasons left unsaid....the park was really nice about not charging for it, even though we'd reserved it....they just charged her for entrance to the park, but not for the dolphin swim...
i thought that was really nice of them....they certainly could have charged since we only cancelled her swim when we arrived at the park (first thing in the morning).

we only stayed half a day, but definitely thought we got our money's worth...
