Oceaneer Lab Age Groups

I'm getting conflicting info about age groups for activities in the Oceaneers Lab on the Magic. The DIS info has them in groups for ages 8 - 9 and 10 - 12, but the most recent Navigators posted (Sept. 2009) has them in 8 - 10 and 11 - 13.

I am wondering because my DS is 10 and my DD is 8. I know they will both be in the Lab. However, for activity groupings I'm not sure. First I told them they would be together, then I told them they wouldn't. Now having seen the recent Navigators, I think they will be. Do the groupings change based on how many kids are on the ship in each age range?

Thanks for your help!

To confuse things the Magic and Wonder have different age groups and so if you look at navigators from the different ships you get different things.

OC is 3>4; 5>7.
OL is 8>9; then 10>12 Wonder, and 10>13 Magic. Kids aged 11>13; will be in Ocean Quest on the Magic.

The confusion is due to the differences between the ships.

Magic--
3-7 Oceaneer's Club split into 3-4 and 5-7 groups
8-10 Oceaneer's Lab
11-13 Ocean Quest
14-17 The Stack

Wonder (current, but not sure when new flex plan takes effect)
3-7 Oceaneer's Club split into 3-4 and 5-7
8-12 Oceaneer's Lab split into 8-9 and 10-12 groups
13-17 Aloft

DCL recent sent out a mailing to people with reservations indicating that the Wonder would start using a flexible plan where kids can choose activities rather than being restricted to age groups. No one is quite sure how that is planned to work.

They were pretty strict on the Magic recently--my daughter was days away from being 11, but still registered with O Lab--she did enjoy the activities however. My son was a month or so away from being 13, but he enjoyed Ocean Quest. It's difficult being a child when developmental stages are so varied and what appeals to one child may not another even if the same age. Disney is pretty good at making the kids happy. I would not worry too much.

BTW, it's nice that, as the kids get older, you can say, "well, go down there and see if you like the activity, otherwise, just check yourself out and go to the pool/room", etc.
