Move from Cat. 9 deck 1 to Cat. 9 deck 2 ??

My DH and I are taking my DD's family with 3 granddaughters on the Magic Nov 28. We are on Deck 1 in Cat. 9.

Can I change it to deck 2 , Cat. 9 (if possible) with no increase cost? I would love to have a verandah but that would be a Cat. 5-6. With the 7 days cruises does anyone have a sense of the increase cost might be.

There should be no charge to move to Deck 2 as they are the same category. There may not be any available but you could certainly call and ask.

In 2011 the deck plans are changing and the Cat 9's on Deck 1 will be a 9D, and the Cat 9's on Deck 2 will be Cat 9C (forward and aft) and Cat 9B (midship). Current Cat 8's will become Cat 9A's.

You could always wait until you get to the port and ask how much it would cost to upgrade to a verandah if available. It's usually several hundred $$ cheaper than if you booked a cat 6 to begin with.

In the meantime, I would def see if you can get on deck 2. They are the same price as deck 1 but you get a single 48" diameter porthole. Deck 1 staterooms have 2 smaller portholes, not sure size.
Beginning in 2011, they will be separate categories so deck 1 will be less expensive.
