Christmas towns and kids?

Ive never had kids in my life to worry about this but.... Where do you put your Christmas town up if you have children in your life? I live in a small aparment and have child visitors alot (I teach, therfore they visit lol). I want to put up my Christmas town, around 30 houses (and random cars and people) somewere but I want it to be safe. What do you do? TIA

I don't have kids, (but I do have cats ) ,so I put my snow village on the fireplace mantle. When I lived in a place that didn't have a fireplace, I got a long/narrow wall shelf from the Goodwill, repainted it, and put the snow village on that. Don't know if either option would be viable if you have 30 or so pieces...

They're trainable so long as they don't have an insatiable hunger for all things shiny (ie: a glittery snow village, tinsel, shiny plastic "icicles" on the Christmas tree...) .

Mine is on my mantel. My fireplace opens up into the living room and the dining room, so I'm planning on extending it to both when I collect enough pieces.

By then we'll probably move! lol.

We've always put ours up at a normal level and we had kids before we started with the villages. They've never touched it or tried to play with it. We told them not to.

Once when I had a small apartment I set it up on a narrow card table. I think I draped the table in a white cloth. My friend's little boy came over, it was lit up and he started singing Christmas songs. He stood in front of the table for several minutes looking and singing. It was so cute.
