Older versus newer rooms at Polynesian?

I just read in a thread that there are some older rooms at the Polynesian that aren't in very good condition. Are certain longhouses in better shape than others? I had requested Samoa, Niue (facing volcano pool) or Tuvalu, in that order. How are the rooms in these?

The entire resort was refurbished in late 2005, I think was the year. So the rooms are all going to be the same unless you just get some oddball bad one or very good one. I don't think there's anyway to predict.

The room renovation was completed in Nov. 2007... and I have never heard of a hotel only doing some of the rooms. Maybe some of the closer ones are used more often than far away rooms?

Hmm. Maybe the comment was regarding rooms in buildings that are older? I stayed in Hawaii in 2007 after the refurb, and I thought the room was huge and nicely done. I was concerned about being disappointed this time around after reading the comment.

Guess I had my years wrong! Couldn't remember.

But there are differences in newer longhouses than older - but the only one I know of is the 2 sinks vs 1 sink in the newer vs. older longhouses, and the no 2nd floor balconies in the older longhouses. I have only stayed in Tokelau and the last few years in Hawaii -- all the rooms seemed fine to me and not noticeably different.

All the rooms were refurbed in late 2007. At that point they also upgraded the mattresses, bath towel and bed linens. I think the mattresses are wonderfully comfortable and the linens are nice but noisy when you move! Yes, some aspects of the rooms are showing some wear but the resort is constantly updating and sprucing up. When we were there at the beginning if the month they were replacing the door mats with new ones and painting. They have also replaced carpeting in a few of the Longhouses.

The only thing that I noticed was the top of the desk chair in our room was really worn but beyond that our room was just fine
