Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

What has been the worst present you ever received?

For me, that would be the earwax candles my dsister got me for xmas one year. You know the kind you light one end and stick the other end in your ear to get your wax flowing If I remember right, smoke would be coming from your ears too. Its suppose to "vacuum" out the earwax.

Mother and father in law bought dh and I a big console dehumidifier for a wedding present

I'm so sorry I can't top that one

The worst gift I ever got was a dinosaur shaped oil lamp from dh for our very first Christmas. Its a good thing he got me diamond earrings and a nice robe from VS too, or it probably would have been our last one

Not Christmas but birthday - DH got me sweatpants 3 sizes larger than what I wear and a gym membership. No, it wasn't meant as a joke; he honestly thought this was a good gift. lol

This falls into the "What was he thinking?" department.

One Mother's day my DH gave me a broken cordless mouse and a hanging basket kit you had to put together yourself. That stupid thing never did bloom. AND I had to cook dinner for everyone on Mother's Day!

I invited my bosses' boss to my wedding almost 11 years ago. He gave my DH and I a religious poem in a frame (based on a religion that we are not) and the frame was broken in the giftbox. It also had a thick coating of dust on it as it must have been sitting in his attic for years. It went right in the trash. I would have much rathered just a card to be honest.

Not trying to sound snotty but growing up in NJ, where weddings take on a life of their own, I thought it was a joke at first.

Hmm, Someone who had recently lost weight gave me a bunch of their old 'fat clothes' for christmas.

She said that it didn't fit her anymore but looked to be just my size.

My DH brought one of those home from an All Natural Food Show. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what it was. Once I read the box, I was like, WTH? I think I eventually tossed it. (Maybe I should have regifted, LOL.)

Not for any holiday, but a just because I love you gift. An UGLY wooden carved foot (including toenails) that looks like someone was amputated at ankle ....and it's an ashtray! I have never smoked and neither has he! 20 years later we still have it.

After our first fight, my husband gave me a set of knives as a make up gift....guess he was lucky I'd gotten over my mad.
