Packing now... and have no idea what to pack!
So, we are leaving in 6 days!
But I have no idea how to pack. I was planning on mostly shorts, but throwing in a couple pairs of pants. I looked at the 10-day forecast on weather.com and also the 15-day on accuweather.com. But seriously, how can they predict the weather 15 days in advance? Based on those sites, the temps range from mid-60's to upper-70's. That is a BIG difference. I am debating if we should even pack shorts. The last thing I want is for my kids to be cold in shorts all week. I know it will not be too hot, so do you think we should just pack pants and throw a couple pairs of shorts in, just in case? I am really confused about this. Would love to hear from anyone that has gone this time of year. Thanks!!!!!

We leave on the 1st and my husband-who is a meterologist-just said to expect below average temps and above average rain. It's an El Nino. Normal average temps should be 70's and mid 50's at night. I'm going to keep checking the National Weather Service site-NWS.noaa.gov-type in lake buena vista,fl right before we go. Good Luck!

I know it's REALLY hard to wait to pack, but Florida in December is impossible to predict. I grew up there and I remember some days wearing a big coat and gloves and two days later back in shorts.
![]() I'm going 12/5-12/11 and I will get warm weather clothes and cold weather clothes ready, then check the weather forecast the day before we leave to see which wardrobe I'm going to need. Have fun!!!

I am guessing I will have to wait as well. I have all the stuff gathered up. Just need to do laundry and gather up more pants! And I guess I will shove them all in the suitcase on Wednesday. Becuase I am not packing on Thanksgiving. Just one more thing to add to my stress this week!

I'd bring half and half with shorts and pants then bring a lightweight jacket to wear over your shirts in the evening. Today it was 80 down here but it has been in the low 70s.

Honestly I end up wearing the same few outfits all week! I'd say pack 1/2 shorts 1/2 pants, a few jackets and maybe long sleeved shirts. I'm also throwing in some gloves and a scarf just in case!

Yep, the only thing that's predictable about Florida in December is that it's unpredictable. Definitely pack shorts, as well as long pants and warmer clothes. Even if it's warm during the day, it can get cool enough in the evening to need to change into warmer clothes.
December is a great time to go, though, as far as weather. Hope you have a blast.

No matter the weather my stradegy is usually the same. Layers. Lightweight technical clothing that breathes well and dries fast. I will try to avoid cotton like the plauge
It is heavy, does not breath very well, and once wet it has no insulative properties. Another advantage is clothes such as I described take up very minimal room in your suitcase.

I have been doing mega laundry all week. I have made sure that everything from shorts, to jeans, to nice clothes have all been freshly washed and are ready to be packed. I hate packing clothes that haven't been washed in the past month because most of the good fresh smell has worn off by then and I love opening a suitcase with fresh smelling laundry. I know, I'm weird.
![]() We have gone in December 3 times in the past and depending on the trip we have had everything from low 30's at night to upper 80's during the day. We leave on the 5th and both have the afternoon of the 4th off. Being that everything in the forecast is so variable, I hate to do it, but the suitcase won't be packed until then. We are gathering the rest of the stuff together next Saturday, but the clothes are waiting until the last minute. |

We leave tomorrow!
I'm packing now and I'm totally confused....I thought it should be all capris and jeans but now I'm thinking about throwing in some shorts? I think I may go over the weight limit for baggage...
![]() Who cares? I'm going to Disney World...TOMORROW! Woo!

Darn
Do say hello to Dave, have a great trip, and best wishes for a wonderful holiday season.Back to the topic..... I have gone quite often at this time of the year, early Dec, and always bring everything from shorts and short sleeves to my regular Chicago winter wear (well, not the sub zero stuff), including gloves and something for the ears. Layers work well.
