Sony E Reader vs Kindle.... Gift HELP!!!

I was wondering which one do you like better........

Sony E Reader or Kindle.........

Pros and Cons? I read that Amazon can pull your books from the Kindle at any time - is that true? What about Sony?

Thanks!!!

There was one book - 1984 by George Orwell. Amazon discovered that it was listed on their site by a Publisher that did not have the legal rights to sell the book. So they pulled the book and issued everybody that was effected refunds.

All heck broke loose.

Amazon apologized profusely and then rewrote their Terms of Service to agree to never do that again.

THEN they issued a $30 gift certificate to everybody that had the illegal copy of 1984 pulled from their Kindles.

As for which do you like better, they are both very good. Amazon has the advantage of the best prices and the best selection of digital books. Sony works well with the Overdrive eBook system that many libraries use and Adobe Digital editions, if that interests you. Sony is also switching to the ePub file standard which is gaining ground as the dominant player. Amazon has international wireless and to me their eInk screen looks a little sharper.

All in all, I have the Kindle and really like my Kindle and I'd most likely buy another Kindle before a Sony because to me, the lowest priced eBooks are the deciding factor.

But I believe no matter which one you choose, you'll probably be very happy with your decision.

I have owned a Kindle since it was first introduced; I have never seen the Sony version.

Does the Sony version allow one to purchase newspapers, blogs and magazines wirelessly?

I do, of course, have various books on my Kindle. Yet it is wonderful to wake up Sunday mornings and think about which Sunday newspaper I want. The New York Times? Chicago Tribune? Or one of the United Kingdom newspapers? There is even a Chinese newspaper I enjoy (in English).

Then, with a touch of a button, and a 30 second wait, the newspaper is on my Kindle. During the day I may read a blog (George Will, The Onion, etc), or I may buy a magazine (Reader's Digest, Newsweek, The Economist, etc).

Books are just a small part of the Kindle experience.

Customer service with the Kindle is EXCELLENT. My first Kindle broke (not my fault... just stopped working properly) after a few months. Amazon Fed-Exed me a new Kindle and I had it within 3-4 days! Just had to drop-ship (at their expense) the old Kindle back.

I LOVE my Kindle.

I will tell you I just got back from the mall where I looked at the Sony Readers since I am considering a Kindle. NO comparison!! The kinlde felt sturdier and the type looked better, crisper. Also, I found it hard to change pages on the Sony. I originally thought it must not be a touchscreen. Even when I pressed hard enough, 2 out of 3 times it did change pages.
I am definitely getting the Kindle.
Forgpt about this. DH loves Sony stuff and when we walked away even he said "Wow. I thought Sony would have had a better competitor".
