Want to See the Dream Being Built???

In this picture, the large ship under construction is the Celebrity Eclipse. But if you look in the lower left hand corner, a new ship is taking shape, that bears a very strong resemblance to the drawings and animations we have seen...

Agreed. Plus, I remember reading something a while back that said DCL did not want any webcams anywhere near the Dream while it was being built.

That is what I thought as well...But a couple of things give it away. First, the struts between the lifeboats are very distinctive in the drawings and the struts here are exactly the same. Second, count the decks and compare it to the deck plan. Either someone is building a copy cat ship, or this is it.

Setting sail?

Does anyone know rougly when she (the Dream) will be launched? Would be quite good to go and see her in the water when she's built.

I don't know about the lifeboat supports. The aidablu in the picture above it looks to have the same setup. But the number of decks and Disney's traditional white glass with the curved top seem to be there.

I thought I read that the ship yard built one or two new "building places" (for lack of the proper term) and the Dream would be in one - they weren't going to have webcams attached. Anyone else hear this?

I think what you are reffering to is the new portion of the dry dock. Meyer Werft has 2 docks that they build cruise ships in. When they initially built the docks, they were shorter then they are now. In the recent past, MW, added about 600 feet to each dock. They did one and the other. Theres more tho the explanation at the bottom of this page.

As far as a webcam is concerned, its only rumored so far,(afaik.Havent seen or heard anything official from Disney in any of the announcements or on MW site, though I have been wrong before.)though they did shift the web cam on one of the docks to point further to the back of the bldg.

Nope. All of Celebrities large blocks are in the dock and assembled. There working inside and on the smaller pieces now. Thats a new build in front of her.
What they did was when MW added on to the 2 docks, they put a second gate part way thru the dock. This way they can flood part of the dock with water to float out a ship, and keep building in the same dock at the same time, without interupting or costly temp walls in a ship. The Dream is in a second part of the dock that is isolated from the ship behind her. This is supposed to be the first time that MW is doing this.I am not sure which dock the Dream is in, but well know when the Aidablu is launched in the very near future. As soon as shes out of the dock, theyll update the picture with the name of the other ship in the dock. In this way, they can start building 2 ships at different times, and increase there production rate. When the Eclipse is launched, in about a month or 2, theyll open the gate behind the newbuild and add the blocks that are on the side of the dock next to the Eclipse.

A rough guess, is that if she is supposed to be here in Early Jan of 11, shell prob be launched, prob August, October or Novemberish of 2010.The Aidablu which is just about done, is due for a conveyance in the mid part of Jan. Generally a new build is supposed to spend a few weeks alongside the wet dock at MW for fitting out before the conveyance, sea trials then delivery.

Events

Upcoming events:

In the middle of January: Ems Conveyance of AIDAblu

In the middle of March: Ems Conveyance of Celebrity Eclipse

If that is the Dream it's aft section has not been attached . If you compare the life boat davits in the photo with the rendition of the Dream, the Dream lifeboats only reach 3/4's of the way down to the aft part of the ship. The white davits are clearly at the end of the section in the Myer webcam.

I am leaning towards her being in the same dock as the Eclipse. I was looking at some of the pics of the keel laying and there is some detail in the background that better fits that dock as opposed to the dock that the Aidablu is in. What ever ship that is, there is limited room to build in as there is a second drydock gate that is blocking the way.You can see both in these pics of the AIDAblu and the Eclipse. The gate is brite green in front of the AIDAblu, and yellow on the fire side of the Eclipse.Once the Eclipse is launched, the gate will be swung over or pulled out completely(not sure how its in the dock) and work will resume on lengthening the mystery ship. Right now they are building up vertically on what they can fit in the dock.
The one thing that has bothered me about the Dream being in the Eclipses drydock, is that the AIDAblus webcam was moved in the last week to point farther back in the drydock.(Towards the stern and what would be open water behind the far wall) You cant see the bow anymore, with the gate infront of it, and what ever ship that is being built in front of the Blu.Its almost like someone is trying to hide something in front of the AIDAblu, which would fit the rumor that Disney doesnt want webcam coverage of the Dream being built.

Found this under Meyer Werfts page a few minutes ago.

Events

Upcoming events:

Beginning of January: Undocking of AIDAblu (Translation flooding of the dry dock and floating her out.)

In the middle of January: Ems Conveyance of AIDAblu

In the middle of March: Ems Conveyance of Celebrity Eclipse

Detailed information on the events will be published on this site in due course.

When the AIDABlu is launched, theyll change the name of the other ship in the dock with her. If it changes to AIDASol, the Dream is with the Eclipse.
