Anyone use a cookie press to make xmas cookies?

I just got a wilton cookie press to make xmas cookies, I have never used one before. Are they easy to use, how do the cookies come out and do you like using it?

TIA

They're very easy to use. It's a family tradition for my mom to make butter spritz cookies for Christmas and this is what she now uses instead of an old electric model.

Will probably take you some practice to figure out how many clicks it takes to get the dough out correctly--every time I use it there's always really skinny cookies and overly fat ones mixed in with the "correct" ones.

I've had the electric cookie shooter for years and I would be lost without it!!

I have a great butter cookie recipe (sorry - it's not here - I'm still at the lake), but for each batch you use a different flavor of dry Jello in the mix and they taste SO good.. I get "demands" - not requests for them - every year.. I use all the various shaped disks; sprinkle a little colored sugar or assorted sprinkles on them - and they come out so beautiful you would swear they came from a fancy bakery somewhere..

I took over the spritz cookie making for my grandmother last year. She always complained about the electric cookie press we bought her a few years ago. I found out why. I had so much trouble with it and ended up cutting my hand when the thing got jammed. In the end I used my grandmother's cookie press from the 1960's. It may be beat up, but it worked a hell of a lot better than the newer model

Oooo, I would love that recipe someday if you wouldn't mind. Does the jello give the dough color then? Thank you!

Yeah, I just have the non electric one. It looks like it would work great. Probably sore hands after awhile squeezing the sucker. Lot better than rolling out dough

Yes - it does give it some color - but I always add a little food coloring to make the colors a bit brighter..

Send me a PM now (I'll save it) and when I get back to my DD's for the winter I'll find the recipe for you..
