Photo Sessions at Resorts...Worth it?

What do people think of this? I'm not sure we'll be able to get the pre-ordered CD yet, so I'd only do it if we could get the CD.

We're on a bit of a budget, and have already sprung for MVMCP, and while I'd love some nice photos of us at the WL, I'm trying ot figure out if it's really worth it, or if this is just another way for Disney to suck more money out of you. Granted the price is $70, but with the CD, that's still $170, right? That's a lot of money no matter how you look at it.

I have also heard that there are often photopass photogs around the resorts that will take a few shots of your family at the resort for free. Has anyone done that and been happy with the results?

My DH is really starting to cut off the money train, unless i an convince him this is a good investment. Thanks!

We did it last year at the Polynesian Resort, but it was still only $25 if you preordered the photopass cd with I did. I thought it was a good experience and did get a lot of nice photos. They were not what most would think of as professional. There were lighting issues with most of the ones that were taken outside, but the pictures were such great shots of our kids and us together I just ignored the lighting. I don't know how to post the photos on here or I would let you see them. I would do it again for the price that I paid, but I don't know if I would pay the higher price that you mentioned. You can get just as good shots throughout the parks with the regular photopass photographers.

I called yesterday to make a reservations for a Photo Session at the Poly and was told there is no longer a discount if you pre order the photopass. They gave me two packages $49 and $99.

Honestly, I think it's luck of the draw whether you get a "real" photographer or not. I can't say I know what the photographer's qualifications are, but I've seen some photos posted from these sessions that are ok at best, the majority have been dreadful. For the price, I think you get what you pay for.

We also did the family portrait session when it was $25 with purchase of photo pass cd. I think it was worth it then but the pictures like another poster said are not terribly professional (at least ours were not any better than say a regular photo pass photo and we also had lighting issues). There are mostly out-takes on our cd but for $25 I felt it was fine. Will be pay the extra $49-$99 this time around? Probably not but it is a good way to get more family photos together at a favorite resort if you are looking for that. At the time only Grand Floridian was available. I think it is pretty neat they have other locations now. $49 is still pretty good considering it would cost about that at a local Sears or JC Penny. Good luck!!!
