2 Weeks to go and suddenly I feel 0 excitment

Nearly a year of planning and suddenly I'm not excited anymore. I know it is going to be a wonderful trip. I know we will have a fantastic time. We will be spending time with our children and our grandchildren.

But suddenly I am very appathetic about the whole thing.

probably just due to the last minute rush to get stuff done, have my back-up at work up to speed, make the final travel arrangement details, get the tree up so it will be easier when we get home etc.

Just needed to vent

Smile Relax, enjoy it!

Sometimes it gets soi busy planning for the trip that it turns into a second job so people get overwhelmed by it. Just think how lucky you are to be going down now when many of us have done our trips for the year and have to wait many days to do again!

The exact same thing happened to me a few years ago & it really baffled me. But, that completely changed as soon as I got off of the plane in Orlando. You'll get excited again!

You will have an amazing time. I felt this way about our trip in October and once we got there, we had a blast. I'm feeling the same way now about our trip in December. I have been planning it for 11 months---going through ADRs, planning which park on which day, arranging tours, etc. and now I just feel kind of "meh" about all of it.

I really think that feeling zero enthusiasm about the trip before going is just a way to keep ourselves from disappointment. If we go expecting the world and something goes wrong, we'll be let down. If we go without many expectations at all, things always end up working themselves out and the trip will be just as great as when we originally started planning.

We'll be in The World from December 12-18 and I know it'll be great. Have a fantastic trip and enjoy yourselves!!!

I'll go for you! I'm sure you will have a great time! If you're like me, you love planning and you love going there, but before I go, I realize the joy and excitement of planning for the trip will soon be gone and I will have nothing to do until the next trip..I think that's the part that bums me out...not the trip itself!

You know that is spot on.... I am already starting to think ahead to how we will be vacationing NEXT year. Starting to try to figure out how to take my DMIL on an Alaska cruise, and go to DL with my D Nieces.

A HUGE part of my vacation joy IS in the planning. And right now the only thing left to do is get a parking reservation at the airport. Not much fun in that.

Know the feeling......

We're not planners so not much is done before hand, no ADR's or touring stradigies, we've done 43 trips so far and just go with the flow for our stays. Knowing you're going months out peaks the anticipation until a few days before leaving. I like to have all my stuff packed and zipped 2 weeks before leaving to keep the stress level low, I quit reading Disney forums and weather reports one week out, no sense getting worked up over things I can't control. But let me tell you, once you arrive in Florida, feel the sun and breathe the Florida air, it all comes back and the excitement grows, especially nearing the Disney property, first sight of the monorail track, WDW entry arch and finally the sight of your resort. We can't get thru check in fast enough and to the room, pull our swim suits, grab some beers and jump in the pool, Florida, here we are and it's going to get better once you enter the MK for the first time. After 43 trips the MK, first look up Main Street, says it all, don't get any better than this. Relax and enjoy, wander off the beaten path, throw the tour plans out the window and just enjoy yourself.

I'm not sure if you feel any of this, but my problem is always the pre-post-disney blues. That is...I already start dreading the feeling of leaving Disney even before I get there. I'm a strange bird.

A lot of people hate the journey, but enjoy the destination. To me, the journey (planning) is just as great as the destination. I enjoy them both so much! I'm glad others out there are like me! I guess I kinda love testing my knowledge of things at the World and when I come up with a plan for the trip, I love to see how it pans out. If something doesn't work like I thought, I learned something! I always try to get as much knowledge of WDW as possible...trivia, touring strategies, etc, so putting these to the test is like a school test for me..I try to get an "A" on my planning!!! LOL!!!

We also are down to the 2wk mark .Since we have not told GD she is going we are still trying to get ready without her thinking something is going on. Which gets harder each day, telling her Thanksgiving night and leaving on the 3rd of Dec. We also have had this planned for a yr and one day I am up and the next day like o well, I think once the secret is out things will really pump up here, Spent today gathering clothes together of course still in closet. 5 more days till it's time to tell GD YEAH

Well, I was right there with you only mine hit at 3 weeks out. It came early for me this time. I think that I have pulled out of it quicker this time because of the news that we got yesterday which I won't bore you with, but this may be our last big blow out Disney vacation for many years to come. It's not a bad thing in the end, because if it comes to pass, it only means that we will have been truely blessed and almost a lifetime of my prayers will have been answered. The journey in getting there won't be too much fun though, so we are going to need this to be a big ole' bucket of pixie dust trip for sure.

I am one week away and I am stressing myself! I have put off cleaning my house (live alone) and now I have a house sitter coming to babysit my four cats - and my house looks like a train wreck. I have two pairs of pants to hem and a jacket to finish sewing and a slew of things to pick up at Target....

Not to mention work is so hectic, since next week is a short week - I had a project start delayed for four weeks and now it is starting Monday and I will be on vacation for 11 days after Wednesday.....

And all I want to do is sit at my local pub all afternoon and watch a football game..... alas.

I feel your pain.
