Red face Dec,11'th Nassau, Wonder and Oasis Meet?...Uh-Oh!

I will be in Nassau on the Disney Wonder on Dec,11'th,.....according to cruiseTT there will also be,......
Carnival Liberty Carnival Sensation Costa Atlantica Disney Wonder and "Bahamas Celebration"

But I also see That this is the very same Day as The NEW OASIS OF The SEAS first visit there,.....

So That's 6 TOTAL SHIPS AT ONCE, Including the Arrivel and Downtown Welcome Party for the Biggest Ship ON earth
Can they fit all of these at once, and how many people will that make in port that day?,......what kind of confusion should I expect?????

Well I am on this cruise as well, and I was just checking out RCCL Oasis of the seas stops for that cruise and it says it docks at 1:00pm-7:00pm. I have to think lots of people on Oasis will not get off since that ship is so big. I know from people I have talked with who plan on going on it at sometime, they would not get off when they go, so I am just hoping a lot of people on that ship are only going for the boat. will be cool to see

Someome please post a picture of the pier as it would be nice to see the difference in size. It sounds like a huge ship.

We were in GC once with 6 ships there. The traffic was pretty bad and lots of pedestrians on the sidewalks. Once we got to 7 mile beach, it wasn't too bad.
It would be neat to see the Oasis. My TA is on it now.

when I go on the cruise I will be taking lots of pictures of the Wonder and Oasis in Nassau, so I'll be posting pictures in December so everyone will be able to see how big it is next to the Wonder. I don't want to go on a ship that big if it isn't DCL, but I sure can't wait to see that huge ship

Cruise critic has about an hour video tour of the ship if you are interested in taking a look at the ship. It looks huges, teens are going to love this ship.

Reminds me of Atlantis on Paradise Isaland, great to see, but I am not sure I would want to stay there for too long.

Having been to Nassau several times, I have a hard time imagining the Oasis being able to go into the harbor/turning basin there (unless they have made it bigger recently). That is one BIG ship and I'd be surprised if it can actually dock, instead of using tenders.

They did a spotlight on the Oasis on Good Morning America, and they said that all of the ports they dock at had to enlarge their docks to accommodate the huge ship. Can you imagine what a nightmare tendering 6000 people would be?

calmpets is right. The ports had to agree to actually build a dock for Oasis sized ships in order for RCCL to agree to bring the ship there. So the countries that stepped up the fastest are the ones who are getting the Oasis business.

They never designed it to have tenders.

It's going Eastern Caribbean for the first 6 months and then will alternate with Western as soon as the Western ports have the docks built to accomodate it.

Nassau had to do some major dredging to get Oasis in there.

Ragen, I can't imagine the sheer number of people in port that day. Good luck finding excursions too.

Good point! I just know that I DO NOT want to be on another ship in the same port with Oasis. It's a pretty ship, but I don't think I'll ever cruise on her..... just way too many people, and I can only imagine what a nightmare debarkation will be.

We're going to be in Nassau on Thanksgiving day, and I'll see if I spot any of the changes they had to make to accommodate the larger ships.

I was in Nassau last week and they are out dredging the port making it deeper. It looks like they have also added an addition to one of the piers making it longer.

I'll be on the Wonder then too. I can't wait to see the Oasis! We are booked for next November on her.
