Any Experience with Rescue Pet Swim To Me Puppy?

My 3.5 yr. old dd has decided to ask Santa for the Rescue Pet Swim To Me Puppy. Like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SB29PXTY0ZB5TY

I have read some reviews on this puppy and I wish I could change dd's mind -- but so far I have had no luck. It seems like this $30 toy is really nothing but garbage.

So...does anybody have their own experiences with this toy? Does it work? Is it worth $30?

Or...does anybody have any great alternatives on a toy that will not be a Christmas morning dud? Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

It's junk..
Got dd one last year. It walks the mechanical walk, and it swims a little as it's filling up with water, then as it's listing to one side, it looks as if it's doing the side stroke! She used it once on land, and once in the pool..
Save your money.

I completely agree - save your money. My DD played with it for about a minute - long enough to find out it didn't work. If your DD is set on getting one, perhaps I can just ship you mine? I'd be happy to clear another toy out of our house to make room for this year's toys. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Does it have to be the dog? What about the doll?

It is funny that you suggested this.

I found this yesterday and thought it was the perfect solution. I found a commercial on youtube and let my daughter watch it. She seemed excited while she watched and then said, "that swims! -- just like the dog that I am going to get for christmas!!" I told her this might work better then the dog, but I couldn't convince her.

I just don't know how to change her mind sometimes. She is a very focused and determined little girl. Fortunately, I might be willing to roll the dice and get this instead -- and just hope that on Christmas morning she won't remember the dog with everything else that will be going on.

Hmmmm .... decisions, decisions!

Send a message via Yahoo to mommyof2princesses
another mom who agrees it is a waste of money. It justs stays on one side once it fills up. Sits under the sink now and never gets used. Wish I would have saved my money!

The doll - and dog - are cute - I just looked at them both on Amazon. THERE IS A HAZARD TO THEM - I wanted to post this review (i'm NOT the reviewer, but thought it would be good info for the mom's here to have if you have either of the toys!!) - the review is for the doll, but I would think the dog MIGHT do something similar:

----

I recently gave this as a gift to my four year old, and she enjoys it somewhat, but so far we've only been able to use it in the tub. It might be fun to try in the pool, because it just propels itself around, nonstop. The lack of an off switch is a big problem, because sometimes the kids just want the baby to stay still so she can be bathed.

CAUTION: my daughter just discovered a semi-hazardous aspect to this toy. Somehow she reclined on top of it in the bath as it was swimming, and the doll's arm continued to move back and forth (up and down?) in a swimming motion. In doing so, it rapidly tangled in my daughter's hair and wrapped up its entire length till it was all the way up to my daughters scalp. It didn't stop and just kept yanking and yanking, producing SCREAMING. Once I got the doll out of the water and it stopped moving, it wasn't impossible to untangle. I got the hair unsnarled with loads of conditioner, but it was no fun. If your daughter has really long hair like mine does, watch out.

My daughter thought this looked cool too until I reminded her of the swim to me doll she already has (or whattheheckever it's called). I'd save my money if I were you. The doll we have runs into the side of the pool then stays there trying to swim through it blagh.

I wanted to just thank all of you for confirming my feelings on this toy. However, thanks to some awesome DIS charity it looks like my daughter might get her wish anyway! Thank you, mrebuck, for your awesome offer!

Now, maybe we will be having a post-Christmas lesson in our house: How to deal with deceptive advertising and why toys do not always work "as seen on tv"!!
