Faxing Room Requests

Hi everybody! I'm am certain that these questions have probably been asked a thousand million times before, but I can't find them so please bear with me!

Tomorrow is my 10-day mark, and I plan on doing Online Check-In. I also need to fax a room request, though. This will be my first time faxing a request, so I thought I'd ask for advice from people who have done it before.

I realize that it is only a request, but it doesn't hurt to try, and I want to do as much as I can to try and have my request honored. A member of our party has mobility issues, and being close to El Centro is a major priority for us. If Coronado Springs had the option to book preferred location rooms, we would have. Instead, I have had to study the resort map extensively and decided that any of the following five buildings will be close enough: Casitas 1, 3, or 4, or Cabanas 9B or 9A.

Because I am doing online check-in, I have read here that I should send my fax at 10 days out, and again at 3 days out. Is this accurate?

Should I be sending to the fax number listed for my resort specifically?

Also, for those of you who fax requests on a regular basis, what format do you use for your fax? do you put it in business letter format, or something else? What all information do you include?

Anything I haven't thought of yet?

Any and all helpful advice is appreciated!!

I have talked to several room assigners at different resorts and most don't consider faxed requests when they assign the room. Many never even see them, they are put in the trash by other Cast Members.

I've read on the CSR thread from multiple posters that the staff there do take into account faxed room requests. One DISer even said that when they arrived at the Online Check-In line, their folder had "see faxes" written on it.

Some do, some don't, and the room assigners at the resorts rotate. At WL I talked to a ex room assigner and she always considered fax requests. Last year the room assigner that I talked to told me that adding fax requests to the requests already on the reservation was too time consuming so she didn't consider them.

It certainly won't hurt to try.

It wouldn't hurt to try but be sure to also call CRO or whoever you booked through and have the request added to your reservation record.

That's been on there since I booked the package. I'm looking for advice on faxed room requests closer to check-in. I see it talked about all the time on these boards.

You can fax if you like, but it still won't guarantee you get your requests met. As disneynutz stated, some room assigners look at them, some don't. You can always try, but no method is fool proof.

I think the best thing to do would be to say that you have a person with mobility challanges in your party, and would like a room as close to the main buildings as possible. And if you are not happy with your room at check in you can always say that again. It doesn't hurt to ask, but there are still no guarantees. Good luck!

Some resorts still pay attention to faxes, while others don't. I know that many here will say that they fax their requests every single time and they have gotten what they wanted every single time...even when they were staying on DVC points. Only problem is that DVC doesn't accept faxes...so that argument goes right out the window.
I am looking at 20+ trips to WDW. I have never faxed a request. Only one time, while not staying DVC, have I not gotten what I have requested...just one time. And actually, the room I was given was pretty good even though it wasn't in the bldg I had requested, or the level.

Go ahead and send in a fax. The room assigners may pay attention, they may not...no way of knowing. It all depends on who is already there, in those rooms, when they go to assign for future guests. If all the rooms that meet your requirements are going to be filled with current guests, then there is no way you are going to get that request. But, generally speaking, Disney likes to make it's guests happy, so they will try their best to get you into a room that will make you happy.
Hope your trip is a good one...let's hope for some wonderful weather then.
