WDW Wedding Album... Warning?

So I was browsing the wedding section of the Disney Store online and I saw this cute little album. Cute until I saw this warning on the bottom...

Quote:
WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm

Check it out for yourself here:

http://www.disneystore.com/david-tut...250061/302700/

What is that about??

That warning appears on quite a bit of Disney merchandise.. It was also on the Tinker Bell tree topper I received as a gift a few years back..

I'm not sure what the deal is, but it always mentions "California"..

I think it's the crystal. I've read that crystal drinkware can expose you to lead, so they must include crystal that isn't drinkware in that, as well.

That warning appears on just about everything. California Prop 65. I think I got in on a lamp the other day. I'm actually quite shocked you haven't seen it before.

http://www.oehha.ca.gov/prop65.html

Now I'm wondering who in their right mind would pay $120 for that album. The price of that is what is shocking!

ETA - here is a better link to the list of everything that they have to label for - the list is 19 pages long and if the product has any of that, it gets labeled.

I know, Disney overcharging us for something? Who would imagine

But seriously, thanks for the link, never saw that on anything before, but good to know.

As far as I know it's the plastic.

It's on most disneyland resort receipts, and it's even on the receipt for the parking at Mickey and Friends structure at Disneyland REsort.

I googled the warning and found this on the Garmin website, a company that now labels all of their products this way:

A: A Proposition 65 warning means one of two things: (1) the business has evaluated the exposure and has concluded that it exceeds the "no significant risk level"; or (2) the business has chosen to provide a warning simply based on its knowledge about the presence of a listed chemical without attempting to evaluate the exposure. Garmin has chosen to provide a warning based on its knowledge about the presence of one or more listed chemicals without attempting to evaluate the level of exposure. With Garmin's products, the exposure may be below the Proposition 65 level of concern, or could even be zero. However, out of an abundance of caution, Garmin has elected to place the Proposition 65 warning signs on its products.

I also looked at it an the no significant risk level means you'd have to be exposed to the product every day for 70 years to have no increased risk of cancer. Since BACON poses a risk higher than this I'm guessing nearly every product, except maybe organic vegetables, carries this label.

Every public building in CA (including the Disneyland parking structure) has that warning posted.

I've spent the evening handling dozens of sets of Christmas lights with warnings on them. I'm just making sure to wash my hands and not chew on the lights.

We see that on stuff all over the place. It is called CYA--with the lawsuit happy society we live in you just gotta do it. Kind of like the warnings on hair dryers and curling irons that warn you not to use them when you are bathing or sleeping or that the coffee you buy at McDonald's is hot.

Seriously, if the tag fairy doesn't get you on this one, it will be a crime! That is too funny!
