Height Variance

Ok I have seen many of you say that the height measurements vary from ride to ride. How much do they vary? Like a 1/4 inch or a 1/2 inch or more? My daughter is just now over 40 inches tall (probably 40.5 or so without shoes) and we leave for WDW in 2 weeks. Does it vary that much between rides that I should be concerned?

I would be. My DD was 41" without shoes according to my measurment at home and was almost turned away after waiting in line for Star Tours. She was close on a couple others as well.

My ds was 39 3/4 inches for our last trip with his crocs on. He was able to ride every single ride that said 40 inches. So I think there's a little give on it. I'm sure your dd will be able to ride everything.

I'd prepare her ahead of time. I'd plan on her not being able to ride everything. That way, if yoyu're wrong, at least there's a positive side to it! I have a child who is currently 39" and our trip is 2 months away so we might end up on the 40" line. I'm interested in hearing of others experiences.

I agree with the PP. Our son should have been tall enough to ride most things on our last trip. He was able to ride Soarin' but was turned away from everything else. Plan on not being able to ride, then if she can, it will be a great bit of pixi dust for your trip. Have a great time!

It would suck for her not to be able to because there are 3 other kids going with that will be able to ride. It would make me feel horrible.

Sucks or not it is probably going to be an issue at some point. I prepared my DD for the fact that even though she masured tall enough at home, she would have to be masured at each ride and she may not be able to do all of them. She is 45" right now and i have told her that she may or may not make space mountian b/c I honestly cannot be sure if she will make it on or ont until she is measured. Better to prepare them now for the possibility than for them to be crushed when told they are too short.

It will. But if you remain calm and don't make a huge deal out of it, your daughter won't either.Mine was too small when her cousins ( the same age) got to ride. She was upset but got over it.Kids are redirectable and more resilient then we give credit for.I would definitely prepare her for the real possibility of not being able to get on .The Cms are sticklers for the height restrictions and your mileage may vary.My other piece of advice is to ride any major rides with a height requirement first thing in the day when you are at your tallest.Practice standing tall and straight too

It is what it is. All you can do is prepare yourself for either possibility.

I like the idea on another thread that getting turned away from a ride (bec of height) means the kid gets to buy a Mickey bar! (or something like that)
