Any hope for reasonable airfare during spring break (Kansas City to Orlando)
I was lucky enough to snag direct flights from Kansas City to Orlando r/t on Southwest for $238 pp (March 13-20, 2010). Happily, I recently learned my brother will be able to join us for the trip. Not so happily, the price of the same flights we have for him would be $850! He is willing to not take a direct flight, but the cost is still hovering around $500. Is there any hope that I will be able to find a flight for under $350 r/t?

Delta has connections for $450 but it's an evening departure and early morning return. That's the best I could see by using Orbitz as a search engine. I doubt you are going to see much lower, especially with decent times.

Have you tried Airtran? We are heading to Orlando from Kansas City also. I booked our SW airfare when it first opened up for March. We are paying just over $500 for all four of us. I can't believe how high that fare has gone!

I don't have an answer, just wanted to wish you luck!
![]() We're flying from KC to WDW March 20-27...wanted to stay through the 28th, but flights on Sun were way too expensive. (And that was on the morning SW opened their dates!) Keeping an eye out for a ding, If I see one for your dates I'll be sure to come post! |

We are looking for the same but STL (St. Louis) to MCO. We have pretty much given up hope and have decided to drive.

Success!
Due to a kind PM from a fellow Diser, I was able to book a flight for my brother for $339 r/t on Southwest. If anyone is needing reasonable airfare for spring break (March 13-20), check out the SW this morning. For me, prices went down more than $500!

I had been patiently watching SWA because I'd found a flight, hesitated, and it went up nearly $200. I waited and found it on Friday for $97 direct out of Indianapolis.
Sign up for Ding and you may have some luck. |

sassyredhead, have you looked at the fares lately? I bet you're happy you found a flight when you did--they are really high again. I may have to give up hope about changing our return flight from 3/28 to 3/29.

I've all but given up hope of cheap airfare for my Spring Break trip. the only thing that gives me any hope at all is that Bing keeps telling me to wait.
Oh well, if it doesn't go down, I guess I will maybe cancel. I have the money set aside for airfare, but amhaving a hard time spending almost $500 to vacation by myself.

Yep, I'm still signed up for weekly fare alerts for my travel dates. The current fares are UGLY. Good luck to anyone trying to purchase tickets for that time frame!
