MCO to Animal Kingdom Lodge cheapest transportation for 1 person

What is the cheapest way for 1 person to get from MCO to Animal Kingdom Lodge? I couldn't find any cab fares - just towncars etc. which are cheaper for more than one person. Any ideas?

DME is free, but you have to have a reservation at the AKL. As long as you're listed on the reservation you're good to go. You can be flying in a day (or more) after the rest of your group arrives.

Otherwise you can take Mears ($20 O/W) You won't be able (or need to) make a reservation in advance. Walk over to a Mears counter when you arrive at MCO.

You asked for the cheapest way. You could take a Lynx bus from MCO to the TTC. You'd then take a Disney bus from the TTC-AK then another bus from the AK-AKL.

edited to add Kaytieeldr is correct, Disney buses aren't set up to accomodate guests with a lot of luggage. You probably won't have an issue if you have carryon type of luggage.

Except Disney buses generally don't allow luggage

Maybe I should claify. Does anyone know any decent cab companies? How much would a cab be from MCO to Animal Kingdom Lodge? My sister wanted a quick way to get to the resort to make it in time for our dinner reservation. All the shuttles seam to make stops along the way.

All taxis travelling the same route at the same time should end up costing the same amount, as fares are metered and regulated. The exact cost will vary based on the route taken and traffic, but I would guess that a taxi from MCO to AKL would run in the $35-$50 range.

A car service gives you a fixed price, probably around $60 + tip. You can take a taxi. You'll pay the meter price + tip. The estimated cost (Mears taxi fare estimator) is $51.68

Mears taxis are available at MCO. You don't need to make a reservation. No need to worry about a car service driver being late or having to find him.

You asked for the cheapest way. You meant to ask for the fastest way. A taxi should take around 30 minutes. Mears shuttle will probably take at least an hour.

I did a quick calc from MCO to AK and it was $38.90, you can put in two addresses here and get the approximate calc. Wait times, traffic and tips are not included, so its just an approximate only.

I believe fastest is an alcohol burning jet dragster funny car, but I don't know how much luggage they allow for. The tolls are difficult to pay using that too.

I got 51.68 putting in the address for the AKL. Fare was about the same using Blizzard Beach as the destination. The OP should assume the tax fare, with tip, will be $55-$60.

If she is checking luggage, then the Disney's Magical Express service shouldn't take longer than a taxi. This is because if she takes a taxi she will have to wait at baggage claim, but if you take DME then Disney delivers your luggage for you ... this pretty much makes up for the other waits built into the DME process.

Of course, all of this won't work if she isn't a guest on the reservation at AKL. I couldn't tell if you're staying at AKL or just eating there. If she isn't on the reservation for a stay at AKL itself, then she wouldn't be able to take a DME bus to AKL.

But again, it's incorrect to assume that DME is necessarily slower than a taxi or car service.

Eric--Good point, but a passenger who wants to get to AKL fast (for a dinner ADR) can get to the AKL in about 30 minutes with a cab. AKL is typically the last DME stop, 70-90 minutes.

The person should go with carryon bags.

I used AK address, but who knows how that actually references to the physical location, I didn't bother to fully confirm. But at least she has the tool to use now.

Rather than look for the 'cheapest' way, I would go with the most efficient way. Book a car service. It will cost about $60, plus a tip, so maybe in the area of almost $70. A cab will run you about $15 or so less, but she won't have to go in search of a cab...the car service driver will be waiting right there, at the bottom of the escalator for her.

I'll respectfully disagree. There is always a line of taxis at MCO waiting for a fare. There are the occasional reports of a late, or hard to find, driver. Car services offer a free grocery stop for a R/T reservation. This isn't applicable to the OP.

She could just get a one-day rental car. Pick up at MCO and drop off the next day at CCC or Dolphin.
