***The Happy Thought Thread***

Ok, first, I understand that it is easier to complain than compliment. It only takes 1 person to start a thread and for the complaints to start flowing in.
I am also saddened by some of my favorite attractions disappearing from my favorite place however, I absolutely LOVE Toy Story Mania, Soarin', and Expedition Everest! New is not always bad, right?
I understand how disappointing it is for some of our favorite parts of holiday visits and other occasions to disappear. Disney is being affect by the economy just as much as anyone else is. How many "free dining" deals did they give out this year? And they extended it. Just to get people to come. For myself, who planned on going anyway, it was great because it meant more $$$ to spend in the parks (2 suitcases worth for BF and myself!). For many others, it meant the only way they'd be able to afford Disney. And probably not much extra more gifts and fun stuff. The food is free to us but someone has to pay for it... and that's Disney. It adds up and they will have to take cuts in other areas to make up for that.
I truly believe things will pick up again and we will either see our beloved lights come back or we will see something new and refreshing! A new favorite!
So, I would like us to share a HAPPY memory from our recent trips... no complaints, just take a couple minutes to share a warm fuzzy memory.

I'll start!... This year at MNSSHP, BF went as a cop and I was in my orange jumpsuit with "Department of Corrections" printed on the back of it. And for most of the night, we were shackled to each other. We got compliments ALL night long. Guest and CMs alike cracking up, telling us how great we were. At first I thought this was a great idea, then when we were getting ready to go, I wished we would've picked another idea. At the end of the night, with so many compliments, I was happy we didn't. Simple enough but, it's a happy thought that makes me smile whenever I think about it!
Anyone care to join me in sharing a happy thought?

We just returned last week. I had a blast. I have to say, the CMs were super nice, the food was good, and my kids had fun We did BBB for the first time with my 3 year old and it was a huge hit. My son got picked out in the Christmas Shoppe in Frontierland to change the Christmas countdown calendar. My 1 year old sat quietly through the Hall of Presidents (that's gotta count for something, right??) Our vacation home rental company kindly found my daughter's hand sewn princess dress that I mistakenly left behind and arranged for a convienient pickup. Plus I rode EE 4x in a row courtesy of FastPass with my 6 year old son and now he thinks I'm the coolest mom on the planet

Here is my happy thought.............We will be having our "Turkey Dinner" with the mouse! Woo hoo, nothing like spending a holiday in the parks and walking around with a giant turkey leg! What a sight to see my little girl holding that thing on Thanksgiving. But hey, you are supposed to eat turkey on that day right?

Our trip in October was the first DW trip we have taken since 2003 when our kids were 7 & 8. Now DS is 14 and DD is 13 and this was the first time that everyone in our family could/would ride EVERYTHING in all of the parks. DS was ok with riding IASW, Pooh, seeing the Beauty and the Beast Show, and having his picture taken with everyone from princesses to fuzzy animals (Thumper and Marie). DD used to be afraid of large rollercoasters but this time she rode RNR 5 times, TOT 3 times, and EE in the front car twice. We were all in the Disney Spririt. It was a FABULOUS trip!!!!

My happy thought is knowing my 2 girls are going to be able to see their favorite characters for the second time this year. We had already been in March and we had 2 really awesome character interactions at 2 different character meals. The first one was at Akershus where my DD8's favorite princess (Jasmine) was there and once Jasmine found out that my DD was her biggest fan Jasmine asked my DD to sing "A Whole New World" with her....it made my DD's day. The second one was when we had breakfast at Cape May Cafe where my DD6's favorite character of all time is (Minnie Mouse). My DD had on a Minnie Sweatshirt and hair pieces in her hair and when my DD told Minnie that she was her biggest fan she made my DD scoot over in her seat and sat down right next to her just ga-gaing over her attire, she also kept hugging and kissing my DD....that too made my DD's day. Just relieving those 2 memories is making me warm and fuzzy inside

I'm glad for this thread because I try and be a positive person. I was disappointed to read the Lights of Winter wouldn't be there this year because I love those. But you know what? There are so many other things that will be there. I will get to see the holiday storytellers, the Osborne Lights, the holiday Illuminations (always brings me to tears, heck, the plain old normal Illuminations brings me to tears), more Christmas lights around all the parks and resorts, the giant gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian, and much more. And you know what? I don't have to pay extra for ANY of this.

A few years ago, I broke my neck just a month before a Disney World trip. While I was in the hospital, I was a bit depressed because of the attractions I couldn't go on (nothing that thuds or spins). But then I started to think about all the things I could go on and cheered up right away.

So let's not dwell on what is NOT there, let's think about what IS there. Because you can't get anything like it at home.

My Happy Thought is walking into the beautifully decorated lobby of the WL, getting to the check-in desk and hearing "Welcome Home" I can't wait for that!

It's hard for me to list one happy thought, because our entire trip was great. We were there for a full 2 weeks, and we honestly did not encounter one...no not one...grumpy or unhelpful cast member. They were all friendly, helpful, courteous, and often, very funny! I think that's one thing I love most about Disney. There is such a happy feeling there. At least what I've seen on my trips.

I'll try to add one happy memory...there were so many. This past trip was me and my 3 youngest kids. At Animal Kingdom during evening extra magic hours, we rode Expedition: Everest over and over and over until closing time. The cast member manning the ride controls would acknowledged my 11-year-old son each time in some way...a high five, thumbs up, etc. My son thought this "special attention" was great. The cast members manning the front of the ride, after letting us on about 10 times, stopped us...in a joking way...and asked us about our trip... how long we were there, where we were from. After hearing we were from Wasilla, Alaska, then they got real interested and we just had the best time visiting. We even took our picture with one of them. It was such a fun night. We rode the ride until they locked the doors.

Someday I'm going to retire and work for the mouse so I can be there everyday. I want a job standing on mainstreet in the morning waving hello to everyone with my gianormous Mickey hand!
