Category that sleeps 5 Questions

I'm confused. I'm planning on booking a cruise on the dream for fall of 2011. It will be for 3 adults and 2 children (we are planning on bringing my mother as a surprise, so she is the 3rd adult). When looking at the lowest Cat. that sleeps 5 on the dream booking, that would be a CAT 8. It sounds perfect. I was then looking for photos, diagrams from the Magic and Wonder that in this cat. to give me a picture in my head of how the bed for the 5th person is set into the room. I can't find any. Are the Cat. 8's on the Dream different from Cat. 8's on the other two? If so, what Cat. on the other two would be a good comparison for the 8 on the dream?

Cat 4 on the Magic & Wonder is the most comparable to the family categories on the Dream. The difference being that the Cat 4 on the Wonder/Magic is a verandah room, and the Cat 8s on the Dream are oceanview rooms. If you look at the 2011 deck plans for the Magic & Wonder, you'll see that there is no longer a Cat 8, because they don't have a category similar to that category on the Dream.

But look at a layout of a current Cat 4, and you should be able to see how the murphy bed adds the 5th bed to the room. Basically the room is just a little bit longer (like 4 feet maybe) and there is a small murphy bed that comes out from the wall between the couch and the verandah door.

We did this on our first Wonder cruise - Grandma slept on the Murphy bed, and said it was very comfortable!

That said, this time we plan to do 2 connecting rooms, because it will give us the extra bathroom for about the same cost.

With 3 adults and 2 kids, you might want to look into the price of connecting cabins. You'll get nearly double the space, and depending on your dates and category, it sometimes doesn't cost ANY more. Work with a good TA who is a DCL specialist; they should be able to advise you on what is available on the Dream that would best suit your needs.

Yes, your cat 8 would work....but there might be other options for more space at the same or nearly the same price.
