Main Street Barber Shop?
Do you have to make a reservation? If so, how do you do it?
Have a friend leaving this week, and her son refuses to get his hair cut prior to the trip. He's saving it for the Main Street Barber Shop. I've never been? ??? Thanks

They do not take appointments.
I believe they are open from 9-5. It's very small (only two chairs), so people line up on the sidewalk outside. It's difficult to tell how long the wait will be by how many people are in line. Sometimes a whole family may get their hair cut, sometimes it will just be one child. Some people also just get the color/confetti, so that takes significantly less time than a haircut. We've gone in the morning, but not right at rope drop. I would say our average wait was 20-30mins. The kids have a snack and they watch some of the characters come out, so the wait was never too long. |

It is small and can get backed up. We went right at 9AM and had no wait. We were seated right away. DD & DS both got their first haircuts there, it was great. My Dad got his haircut and they did a good job! Totally recommend it!

Random question, but does anyone know if they happen to do an old-school, single blade, hot lather shave for the gents. I could definitely go for skipping my shave one morning and getting it done proper when I hit MK.

No single blades. I was there when someone asked.
I've also been when the wait was forever.

First of all, they did a minor redo inside. There is now more seating for people waiting and there are now three chairs (and three barbers) instead of two.
One important thing to remember at the MK Barber Shop. When they removed the old antique cash register and put in a terminal to allow use of credit cards and hotel charges and the like they hooked into The Emporium's network. The register, unlike ones in table service restaurants, cannot handle tips as part of the transaction. So if you are planning on using the Harmony Barber Shop please be aware that if you are using any sort of card you cannot add a tip on the card and should have cash available for tipping.

Do they still cut hair? When my brother did it a few years ago we were told that they were no longer able to cut hair anymore and instead styled it and put glitter/color in it..

It is BBB that is not allowed to cut hair. The CMs there are not licensed barbers. The Harmony Barber Shop has licensed barbers.

barber shop
We got my DS his first hair cut there last year. The gentleman made it such a positive experience, that he enjoys getting his hair cut. First hair cut came with hair in envelope(for DW), Confetti and a certificate sayin first hair cut. Great experience. We only waited 20minutes. Well worth the wait!

Excellent experience. My kids love it. For kids, it is $14 for a haircut. they can also get colored hair gel and/or pixie dust added for no additional cost. For boys they will usually make a Mickey head in the back using the hair gel. very cute! The hair cuts we have received have always been excellent - better than most of the shops at home.
They now have 3 chairs in there. Usually takes about 10 - 15 mins per haircut on avg. Strickly first come, first served with no reservations allowed. We prefer to go earlier in the day, if possible - that way the kids get to show off their hair gel and pixie dust most of the day. Everyone will comment on it. Very fun!!! But, we have also gone at 4:30 in the afternoon and it was still worth it. I think their hours are 9-5 everyday. By the way, the hair gel is not near as hard to get out as it appears. We wash it out in the bath tub. Usually just lather, rinse and repeat and it's out - and my kids have extremely blond hair. Enjoy!
