Star Wars accessories for Wii

I saw these in the Toys R Us ad for this weekend. My ds9 loves Star Wars and has about 10 of the light sabers. The Wii light sabers seem like something he would like. I just wanted to hear reviews from others if this would be something worth it to buy, or is it not worth it.

I bought these as Christmas present for DS. I might return them if the reviews on this thread are poor. I hope not though, I think DS would really like them!

I was going to buy them at Sams, but decided to go home a research them instead. There are a couple different brands, so look up which one you have - I used amazon

Overall, I found the reviews said don't bother - that the light sabers prevented the wii-mote from giving a good signal. Too bad, I am sure my son would love them.

The reviews also mentioned it depends what game you have as to how useful they will be. We have lego star wars, and there is very little point to them with that game. There is another star wars game (i am sorry, I can't remember the name of it - maybe "Jedi battle" or something??) That game would make more use of the sabers, but the game was not well rated, so I didn't want to get that.

we have the adapters and a jedi duel game. even though it looks great, they really make the wii motes heavy. i would skip them honestly.

We have them too-bought them for Christmas last year-they are a dud. They don't really do anything but make the remote heavy and awkward to use and they dent really easily. I ended up throwing them out. I believe that these were the actual Wii brand ones that glow.

We have the Star Wars Lightsaber Duels Wii game and I bought the Thrustmaster wii lightsabers. Pro- they do look very cool and have LED blades. Con- they are very heavy. They diminish your control of the game. My kids insisted on playing with them....cause they look cool of course, but became so frustrated with losing at the game they stopped playing it all together. Once they figured out you have much better control funcion with just the wii remote, they started playing it again. So my vote is thumbs up for the Lightsaber Duel game...but save your money on the lightsabers.
