Adding tickets once we arrive?? Please help!

I tried to find the answer to my question, but I think I'm more confused now than I was.

This is the situation:

We have tickets from a few years back (non-expiring) that I am not sure how many days are left on (I think 4 days ). We are going in February and I have purchased 4 nights, dining plan,1 day MYW ticket. If we arrive and don't have as many days as we think on the old tickets, how much is it going to cost to add days to the 1 day MYW tickets that we will be arriving with?
The paranoid person in me thinks "What if we get there and for some reason those cards don't have any days on them?" I've always bought the tickets I needed when I booked my package, so this is a new situation for me!

Thanks so much!!!

1 day MYW ticket.

1- If we arrive and don't have as many days as we think on the old tickets, how much is it going to cost to add days to the 1 day MYW tickets that we will be arriving with?

The paranoid person in me thinks

2- "What if we get there and for some reason those cards don't have any days on them?"
1- The new one-day (adult) tickets are worth $79 each.
If you want to upgrade to any other new ticket, just look up the cost of the ticket you want, and subtract $79 from its price. That's what you'll pay for the upgrade.

2- It will be cost-prohibitive to use days from your OLD tickets,
-AND, during the same trip- also use any days from any NEW tickets.
You will be better off financially if you only use ALL NEW (upgraded from your one-day) tickets for this trip
-OR- only use the days from just the OLD tickets for this trip.

If your old tickets don't have enough "days left" on them, you'll be better off buying all new tickets (upgraded from your one-day tickets,) and continue to save your old tickets for a trip when the number of days on the old tickets will be enough, on their own, to complete the entire trip.

BTW, you cannot upgrade, modify, or trade in any of your old tickets (since they have been partially used.)
You can only use the old tickets for admission to the parks.

So basically........if I price out a package with 5 days worth of tickets, then I price out a package with 1 day worth of tickets (on disneyworld.com), the difference in price would be the amount I would have to pay at the gate if I wanted to add 4 days (to the 1 day ticket) when I get to Disney.

Very likely.
But, there are times when a package will offer a "deal" on multi-day tickets.

By the way, I called 407 566 4985 and they were able to tell me how many days were left on my old passes. I've heard rumors that they won't tell you anymore, but it worked for me.

We're in a similar situation...we have 2 sets of passes with days left from last time. Our plan is to use days off an old hopper and upgrade the one day passes we have. The "new" one day passes we have from this package we plan to save.

Before using the old hopper (from vacation #1?), size up the cost of upgrading the one day passes you have (from vacation #2?) for this whole upcoming vacation (#3?) versus upgrading the one day passes for the second half of the upcoming vacation (as if you used the old hopper for the first half).

You may well find the difference in cost to be negligible, like, three dollars a day, in which case upgrading (or buying) and using only one ticket card per person for the whole upcoming vacation and not using the old hopper at all (and saving it for vacation #4) would be better.

Read yours from start to finish without regard to what your classmate said.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. What we have planned is to only "hop" 2 of the 6 park days, so we are only paying to upgrade DDs ticket to a hopper as she was not around for trip #1. Having to add another $110 for 2 adult hoppers makes that option about that much more.

What I think we will do is save the 1 day passes from this trip rather than use them the way they are. I'm not sure we'll ever have a chance to use them or upgrade them since we usually do a package deal, but for $16 or so, we have 3 one day passes that will only "gain" value, so I think we'll hold onto them.

Thanks for the help! I hope I'm getting all this right! It's complicated!

By the way, I know this has been asked before, but when I upgrade our old, one day passes, I USE IT AT THE PARK FIRST, and then I can upgrade it and add days (and hopper?) within 14 days, is that right?

Thanks again!

disneychick, definitely call and see if they can tell you. I called several months ago, but they very well might still be doing it.

If that were the case, how would someone - who just had so much fun on their one day Disney visit - be able to "add days" and stay longer? (Which is one of the big reasons for upgrading.)

It's perfectly fine to upgrade a "fully used up" MYW ticket (within those first 14 days.)

Yes, using an old hopper for two days and a non-hopping ticket for the rest will get you $28. per day out of the former.

If you plan to hop for exactly one day I say definitely use the old hopper for that when buying a non-hopper for the rest.

A ticket isn't considered exhausted until the end of the day (27:00 as defined by Disney).

But, even that has no bearing on it's validity for upgrade, since even a fully-used-up ticket can be upgraded until 14 days following its first use.
