Lady in Grand Floridian

I am sure that this question has been asked before, but who is the lady that sits in the lobby of the Grand Floridian with her luggage. I am pretty sure that I read something about her on here but I can't find it. Anyway, my kids just could not take their eyes off her. They are 12 and 15 and we live in NYC and are very used to seeing unusual things, but for some reason they were really interested in knowing what the story is with her. I told them to talk to her but they weren't sure if they should. If anyone knows about her or talked to her in the past I would love to know the story. Thanks

Her name is Lynn I believe and her sister has posted here before. She is just a local resident, a widow, who enjoys the GF lobby. I have never seen her, but others have said she's a very nice woman and if you see her you should stop and chat with her a while.

oh man! Does she always have a lot of stuffed animals with her?

I think we remember her from our last trip. I didn't realize she was a regular! That's wild.

Before this threat gets ugly this is the answer her sister posted on the DIS.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread....ight=miss+Lynn

And yes she is a very nice lady that knows some people did write very ugly things about here on the DIS in the past.

I think this is such a sweet story I don't understand why people would have problems with her when shes not bothering people.

Yeesh.

We saw her on our trip in June. I had read about her on the DIS and went over and said hi. My dh had no clue what was going on until I told him about her and he thought it was pretty cool-now he wants to sit at the GF every day! I told him he had to retire first.....he's 24

Send a message via AIM to cbg1027
Does she like to hang out anywhere in particular? I've never noticed her before, but I go back in 3 weeks and will be the GF to eat several times so I thought it would be cool to stop by and say hello!

Good for her for doing something that still makes her happy.

As for anyone that thinks she shouldn't be there or would turn this thread ugly MYOB. If the GF doesn't mind that she's there it's none of your business.

You are so right. Honestly, if I lost my husband suddenly like that, I would probably do the same thing. Since we met at the MK, I would just spend my days on a bench there.

If I ever found myself at the GF, and I saw her, I would consider it an honor if she would let me sit and listen to the music with her. I hope she is able to enjoy many, many more afternoons listening to music at the GF and that she doesn't encounter any rude guests.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Lynn back in Dec 2006 and she is just a lovely lady. Her story is very touching. She loves being at the GF as she feels close to her husband. I could talk to her all day. I would feel completely empty if I were to lose my husband.

I will look for her this time.

Back in 2006, when I took my mom, I swear we sat there for over an hour and chatted. There was a gentleman playing the piano, and we sat in those big overstuffed chairs and had a grand old time.

Just as we were about to leave, a huge wedding party came in to get their pictures taken in front of the tree. They were an older couple and looked like they were melding two very large families, including kids, their spouses, and grandchildren. I think we stayed for another hour watching them get their pictures taken. It was a lovely afternoon!

Thank you so much for the info on Lynn. Next time we are there we will definitely talk to her if we see her. My children, especially my son would love to talk to her. He is a very compassionate person, very mature for his age (15) and loves to speak to older people and hear their stories. I'm really sorry we didn't talk to her this time as she was sitting alone and probably would have enjoyed some company. After reading her story I had to laugh because one day that could very well be me. We take our kids to Disney a few times a year and my son is planning on working there so who knows she may have to make some room on the sofa for me. God bless her.
