Help: Bringing a guest to the resort but part of our package

We are staying at POFQ and my mom is coming to FL to spend some of our vacation with us. She is going to sleep at my uncle's house (30 minutes from Disney) but spend a few days with my sister and me and our kids at the parks too. So how do I go about this, since she's not on our package. We were going to have her use our car to go back and forth. Will this be okay? She is flying, but we are driving (she lives in PA, we live in NC). I want to plan ahead and don't want to run into any problems with her getting into the parking lot with our car. Our car will be registered with POFQ when we get there, but if there is a security stop in the parking lot, will she have to show ID too?

As long as she has the parking permit for your hotel, she should be fine. If she is staying overnight at your hotel at any point, then technically she needs to be a registered guest at the hotel.

Right...I realize that she' can't stay overnight. She isn't planning to. She's staying at my uncle's house. We have four people in our family, so there's no room in our resort room. I just want to make sure she can come and go as she pleases, using our car.

Sure. They don't check IDs when you drive in and around, just the parking pass.

She doesn't need accommodations for her DM, she just needed to know if the DM could use their car to get back and forth to the uncle's house to sleep each evening - and then come back in the morning to meet them to go to the parks and be able to park in the resort all day.

And she can!

The only problem I can think of would be getting back on property. When you pull up to the gate you need a KTTW card to lift the gate arm. On a couple of occasions in September(we were at Pop)our card would not work to lift the arm and we had to show our KTTW to the CM in the little guard shack before he would lift the arm. And on another occasion we pulled up to the gate and no one was in the shack to lift the arm if our ticket didn't work. This may just be random depending on the CM.

When I was there in June, they asked to see the room key in addition to the parking pass to enter the resort parking lots.

Just show any form of ID and you are allowed in the resorts. Wether it be for shopping, eating, sight seeing, or visiting your families, as long as you have a photo ID you are allowed entrance into any of the resorts.

It'll work. She'll have to go thru the guard side and will normally be asked to show ID but with the parking pass, it'll just be a quick glance and then she'll be thru.

That's what we had to do alot when DH demagnitized his KTTW card. He kept putting it in the same pocket with his cell phone and it kept getting demagnitized so he just pulled up to the guard shack instead of having me use mine. but that's my DH. LOL

Yes, that's all she will need to do. Just go on the side closest to the guard and be prepared to show her driver's license.

Actually it depends what hotel you are at - for All Stars they don't care about the parking pass - they want to see your key card or an ID each time you go through the gate. It's a pain but they stand out there holding up the key card and that is the only thing that will get you easily through -- otherwise you have to stop and show a picture ID and tell them why you are there.

To get back into the resort, we also had to show our KTTW card when we drove up to the guards house. When we drove through the lift gate we also ran into trouble once. The guard came out and told us to put the card in, pause a moment then pull it out. She mentioned the pause is important for it to read the card and lift the gate. We never had a problem again with the gate when we followed her instructions.
