I need a good creative idea to announce pregnancy

We have been anxiously waiting for Christmas to tell our families about baby number 4. I am looking for a creative gift giving type of way to tell them. I was thinking about putting a picture on a christmas ornament of an ultrasound, and was also thinking about making a picture puzzle and taking it apart and making my MIL put it together to see what the picture is. I was thinking an ultrasound picture with "can't wait to meet you!" written on the bottom. I am not close with my dad, really, so when I see him I'll just tell him. My mom, I think is going to have the reaction... "another one?" and I'm really not looking forward to telling her, actually. That makes me sad. So I am trying to come up with some fun and great ways to tell people. On Christmas I will be 16 weeks. The only person that knows is my SIL. (we tell each other everything) I haven't even told my sister, because I want her to be a part of the surprise when we fly home for Christmas. We've tried so hard to get this one to stick, and we are still nervous about it now. I have an appointment next week for my first ultrasound and checking for heartbeat... we still haven't heard it... (stupid military drs... even when spotting they wouldn't check...) so we haven't even told local friends. We're waiting until after this appointment. This is a blessing for us after many infertility treatments and we want it to be for our families as well.
So.... how did you announce your not-so-new pregnancy for those with big families?

I'm not sure this would work for baby #4, but when I found out I was preg with DD#2, I bought a tshirt for DD#1 that said "I have a secret...." on the front and "I'm going to be a big sister" on the back. She wore it when my parents came over...they were surprised even though we had been trying for a while and everyone knew I was testing!

For my inlaws, we bought a picture frame with multiple picture spots and "Grandkids" or something like that at the bottom. We put pictures of all the grandkids in it, and then our first U/S pic in one of the spaces, too. They liked it

Congrats! And good luck breaking the news!

we've done the t-shirt thing already, and I find that its been overused. lol. No offense to anyone on here that has done it, but it seems that's the way everyone does it nowadays. I'm looking for something other than clothing. Something I can wrap. hee hee It will count as a Christmas gift.

Hmmm sorry, I didn't know it was overused. It was the first time my parents had ever seen it, so it was new to us!

I hope someone has some better suggestions.

I don't have a suggestion, but wanted to say I think it's really sweet that you're still looking for ways to announce your pregnancy even with number 4..that's just awesome!

If I had to announce my 4th to my mom, she'd probably have a heart attack. In fact, I'd be posting "looking for creative ways to hide my pregnancy from mom for as long as possible" LOL Sad I know, but oh well.

I just think it's awesome! Congratulations to you and your family! I like the idea of the ultrasound pic.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything, its just that most of the people I know do this to announce it. Maybe its a regional thing??? It's still cute, but when you've got 4 kids, the tshirt thing just doesn't work anymore. lol We've been trying for about two years, but our family doesn't even know. Our parent's are already grandparents, so if we got them something that said grandparents or something on it, they wouldn't even give it a second thought.

We gave our folks books that said "read to me grandma/grandpa" but that was for our first kid. The second one got blown when my DS told his grandparents that his mommie had a peanut in her belly lol

Diaper Kit

My aunt and uncle once announced the baby by giving their parents a grandparent's diaper changing kit - mostly diapers, wips and ointment.

Good luck!

Of course, I meant "wipes" not "wips". We are old school, but not that old school.

Okay, hugs to you on the knowing her reaction might not be so great. I have so been there, too. We have 4 and not one pregnancy was met with any sort of enthusiasm by my inlaws. And I even went to great lenghts to do fun announcements, too!

Baby one...gave her a Grandmother Remembers book. Baby two...I'll tell you that in a minute. That baby was 6 months old when we got pregnant with baby 3 and we did the tshirt thing. (MIL commented, she's awful young to be a big sister and walked away.) Baby 4, I think we just told her, but for my mom I met Emeril at a book signing and had him tell her in his autograph. He thought that was hilarious!

Okay here's what I did with Baby Two. For Mother's Day (I had been planning ahead) I gave her a set of nice ornaments, one with each member of the family's name on it. I did it myself with a gold paint pen. (Insert cheesy soap opera music. I got this idea from years ago on Days of Our Lives when Caroline would unwrap the family ornaments and gaze into the distance worrying if Hope would ever be found in time for Christmas, and then hang her ornament on the tree.) So she opened the ornaments and loved them! Then I gave her another gift with two more ornaments, a pink and a blue and a note that said Baby due in February. When the baby was born, I wrote her name on it! She wasn't that thrilled, but I loved it. My mom loved hers.

Good luck! I hope someone has an idea you can use~!

Congrats!
I was planning on using this for #3 but we had to stop at 2.
My friend used it to announce 4 and 5 (twins).
They had a nice outside family photo made and put in a large photo album. At the bottom she put:
Family Photo $100
New clothes $150
Knowing there are 7 people in this picture: PRICELESS

Her family LOVED it. The next page she made into a nice ultrasound page with both babies outlined.
Good luck and I know how bad family members can be. With my second I got "well congrats if that what you want" and "you're pregnant again!". My kids are 27 months apart. You should have heard them when we told them we were going to Disney when I was 6 months prego...
Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

This was GREAT my giggles for the day!!! Makes me wish I did want another one... I've got all I can handle with two!!!

But anyway, I'm voting for this one and OP's original puzzle idea. It'd be pretty entertaining watching someone try to put together a puzzle of an ultrasound! Not even close to the same, but I'm doing this with a fantastic pic I took of my BF's boy with my boys, she's never seen it and she'll LOVE it.

I have 4 as well. For the first two we did not do anything exciting. For number three we were in the process of picking house plans. The way the floorplan was is that the master was on one side--off the main living area was on bedroom with a bath and the off the other side was 2 bedrooms seperated by another bath. So we are showing the plans and talking about which kid would have which room. I told them that "A'' would either have one of the two with one bath or he would have the one bedroom on the other side with his own bath depending on what the baby was. It took them a second, but DH family was thrilled. My mother on the other hand said something not so nice--my dad noticed this and responded by laughing and saying congrats.

For baby number 4 we did it several ways---I dreaded telling my mom because of the other reaction. I went to FTD and picked out flowers for a baby's arrival--on the front it said sprout--the card said a new sprout will appear in September. I had it delivered while we were in Disney. She called me all excited and loved the plant. I could not believe her reaction. For DH side of the family had #3 wear a shirt that said big brother, but they never caught on--we had to tell them as they were leaving--again they were elated. In Disney we were with friends and we told them after I could not ride a ride and they asked why---I pointed to the sign. They were thrilled for us.

I told DH about number 4 by using the diboards. We had a ticker for our trip mentioned above--I knew that he always checked the ticker beacuse it was getting close to the trip. I made a new one for the baby and left the screen up. He loved it.

Maybe you could give them a present with a sterling rattle or something to the effect that would only be used by a new baby. Good luck and let us know how you decide to let them know.

When we found out we were pregnant with our for our first child we went out to eat with both sets of parents, some other family members, and some friends. We gave our server two gifts to give to our parents. We put two bibs in each wrapped gift box. One said I love grandma and the other said I love grandpa.
