November 8-12 WONDER in Port EARLY!!!!!!

We were on this Cruise and I am wondering if anyone else who was heard WHY we were back in Port at Canaveral by 11:30pm?? On our past Cruises we have been asleep when we returned to Port.

We heard a couple REASONS, and I am wondering what if anything others on that Cruise heard. I have to say if the one reason I heard is why it really stinks. And the second seems kind of a made up reason because if it were the "real" reason I believe they would have made a few other announcements in regards to how it needed to be handled.

I would like to see if anyone else posts here about this and I will tell what I heard but I would like to hear others opinions. I feel as though I really went on a 3NIGHT CRUISE instead of a 4 NIGHT. I could have been off the ship by midnight and stayed in a Hotel for less than what that last night cost to be CRUISING!!!!

Please don't flame me on this one I am just looking for opinions on this and wondered what others thought.

I have a friend who was on that cruise. She heard that another passenger had a medical emergency (I'm thinking she said heart attack) and did not survive.

Not sure I understand why it matters? You would be at the port when you woke up. How much time were you planning on looking out at the ocean between 11:30pm and 6ish when the boat normally pulls into port? Other than this aspect, you lost out on nothing.

Besides, the ship technically NEVER has to even leave port. They have the right to do whatever they want with the ship. You can go anywhere they want, or you can stay put.

We always jokingly say that we don't care if the ship EVER leaves the terminal port, as long as we are on it

But I can see why you are wondering why the trip was cut short.

I hope you get your answer.

Some people are curious.

Why would one want to know?

I guess because they are curious. That would be my guess, nothing wrong with that.

I guess one would be curious as to why they were sitting at home port at 11:30pm when they were supposed to be out at sea.

I know that I sure would wonder about it if I were onboard

I would definitely notice that the ship was not moving on my last night onboard and think it was strange

Yup, a lot of us are just curious people at heart

To answer a previous poster as to how much one would be looking at the ocean at that time of night. I for one would definitely be out on deck before I went to bed that night. It's just something that I always do when I'm on a cruise

In the grand scheme of things, does it really make much difference if the ship is moving or not? No not really.

Unless you were kicked off the ship at 11:30 p.m. - your cruise wasn't shortened.

Perhaps it had something to do with the weather. I was on the Nov 12 - 15 crusie - boarded on November 12th and it was very COLD and windy in Orlando - so much so that we could not stay out on deck while in port. Hurricane Ida messed up the weather for us - I purposely booked the cruise in November thinking that I wouldn't have to worry about Hurricanes and Ida pops up. There was a easterly wind or something that came through and the water was very rough.

On our last cruise in February, we boarded the boat and headed straight for the pool - on Nov 12th - it was too cold to go near the pool - except for a handful of people - everyone was inside - until the sail away party - and the boat was rocking all night - In February, I didn't feel the boat move at all - for this cruise - I felt the boat rocking the first night out and the last night coming back to port.

GOSH......People calm down I really don't understand why when someone posts here that people feel the need to instantly "FLAME" them for what they say. I have been on 5 Cruises now and all I said was that I felt it was a bit shortened....I said that I had never been in port that early before and was wondering if anyone else who had been on that cruise had heard what the possible reasons for that may have been!!!

Couldn't agree with you more. People are so drunk on all things Disney, they they are above reproach in all areas. I spoke with a neighbor in town who is an executive with DCL and he said there would be 3 scenarios that would put the ship back into port early - and most have been touched-upon.

1. - Medical emergency that was less than air evacuation, but still required urgent attention - discretion of the on-board medical staff.

2. - Weather / sea condition avoidance.

3. - Maintenance issue for the ship that would require more than the normal 10-11 hours in port to correct from vendors/technicians off the ship.

I would also want to know. On our two cruises (third next September), we've always had a verandah, and I would often sit outside late at night, or if I awakened during the night. The sounds of the ocean and the wind in your face is just as appealling, and relaxing, in the dark as it is in daylight.

I would assume this was done for the health and safety of the passengers, and if so, I would support their decision, but I don't think an explanation is out of line.

Thanks to those who understand....and so there is no confusion a Cast Member told us that a GUEST had done something and these are his words not mine "NOT SO NICE" and they wanted him off the ship!!! now if that is the case then the trip was shortened for 1 IDIOT!!!! I would think that if that was the case that any and ALL ships would have a place to put such a person out of sight to the other guests and it shouldn't be an issue to other who paid to go on this trip.

Sometimes tones are misconstrued online is on opinion I have... And sometimes when people see CAPS and multiple "!!!"s they react back in similar firm tone in response.
