Someone joining us for dinner - but not eating?

Can we do this? My sister-in-law is coming down to meet us for a couple days, staying with another local relative, but she'll be going to the parks with us and dining with us.
We arrive Thanksgiving Day - off to Chef Mickey's for dinner. Local relative we want to spend time with, meet up with that day. Works best to meet up with us at the resort and then off to dinner with us, then to MK. Otherwise, she'd be going to MK by herself and meeting us there.

She will have just been coming from her family's Thanksgiving meal - last thing she wants to do is eat again! But... can she join us for Chef Mickey's and NOT eat and NOT get charged for being there?
I mean, if it was Tony's or Sci Fi, for instance, that's easy - she could sit there and not order anything, order a drink if she wanted, whatever. But being a buffet - are they automatically going to charge her for coming in with us??
any chance she can join us and just hang with us - but not get charged for an adult's buffet?

Doubtful. THey have no way of knowing if she's eating or not unless they watch her every move once she enters the restaurant.

Not sure what the current charge is or if holidays are different but at character meals there is a charge for anyone over 3 even if they are not eating.

yeah, figured it wouldn't work. Just hate for her to just hang around the CR by herself while the rest of us are eating.

part of what you pay for at CM's is the atmosphere and the characters. She would still be getting to enjoy all of that so yes, she should pay.

Not at Chef Mickey's. At buffets everyone at the table (age 3 or over) is charged for the full meal, whether they eat it or not. It's not possible for the restaurant to police non-paying patrons and make sure they don't eat, so everyone pays.

Nope..Buffets charge whether you eat or not since there is NO way to police people.Plus, at character meals , a big part of the cost are the characters

1) No.
2) Even if she doesn't eat, she gets the character show for free.
3) She needs to pay if she attends.

It doesn't have anything to do with the characters - the rule is the same at non-character buffets. If you're at the table, you pay for the meal.
