Ordering Flowers - The DIS Discussion Forums

I want to order some flowers for Thanksgiving. I have looked at 1800Flowers, Proflowers, Teleflora & FTD. I'm confused. Who's better than who? They all look good. Any other places I should look?

I prefer to find a florist in the area and order directly through them. Can someone give you a recommendation?

I prefer proflowers and my recipients loved what they received.

When I was working for a telemarketing company, I trained to take orders for this company (though I never did as for reasons unrelated to proflowers, I opted to stop working for the telemarketing company).

The video they showed us, I was just in awe of their entire process as a corporpation and as a flower vendor and in customer service.

They take meticulous care that your recipient receives the perfect flower. Flowers that do not meet quality are pulled and not used in their products. At first I thought that this was a waste. But there is nothing wrong with the flower as a flower and they get donated and not trashed just b/c a petal had a little blemish.

The flowers are shipped, so your recipient wil have to put them in the provided vase in in their own vase. I've ordered roses, a potted rose bush, and orchids and as I said, the people who received them were quite pleased with the quality of what they received.

I send my MIL a table centerpiece every year for Christmas. I use 1800Flowers and they have always been beautiful, fresh, and have lasted a long time. They are delivered on the day I request. The website is very easy to use.

You are adding a couple extra bucks of flowers to the gift, since the florist isn't paying the intermediary fee.

You have the added benefit of asking for exactly 14 roses or whatever crazy thing you actually want

I do not want to sound ungrateful, my df is a sweetheart and sends me flowers at work from time to time, and I really do not enjoy the "set up" process of Proflowers. You have to cut the stems and set them all up yourself, which is a messy process in a cubicle.

Usually they end up in the box under my desk until I can take a break.

It is much nicer to have them come arranged by someone with some talent at arranging flowers.

Call a local florist!

I totally agree with you on the work required. My brother sends roses to our nearly blind 88 year old mother using ProFlowers. The roses are beautiful when they arrive but she can't do the set up so they die quickly.

I tried the call a local florist thing last year for Easter and they would only sell me their affiliate products (like the stuff you see on the FTD or telefloral site) and the prices were exactly the same.

I tried to get them to make something custom and they wouldn't just make something up.

This was the florist that my mother regularly uses and they do custom work but wouldn't over the phone.

It was disappointing.

I was going to order Thanksgiving flowers this year but I'm too cheap. I wasn't keen on spending $75 on something. That was close to the price on the cheapest thing after all the delivery and service fees.

My favorite flowers for Turkey day are actually the "Turkey Mums" from the supermarket, I have no idea why i think they are so cute, but I love them!!! Have you guys seen them? So cute!

I have a phenomenal local florist that I use. I just call her up and tell her I need flowers for whatever and she does amazing work! It is so handy. When my mom passed away in August I called her up, said I wanted bright, colorful flowers, how much we wanted to spend and everything was done. Her flowers last for WEEKS too. I have used 1800 flowers and a couple online places and the quality isn't nearly as good and neither are the arrangements.

I have had problems time and again with FTD. They are pretty good about fixing it but you can only call customer service so many times without the whole thing irritating you so I don't use them anymore.

Teleflora is really nice or a local florist.
