Is AKV concierge worth it or get 2 bedroom
For our next trip I am thinking about getting a 1 bedroom Concierge. It would be 160pts for our trip. Now there is 5 of us. DH, Me, DD 10, DS9, and DD 8. Our other thought was to get a standard 2 bedroom for 140 points. Now with all teh changed to the offerings is it worth the 20 points and the lose of 1 possibly 2 bathrooms?
DH is of course no help and the kids want to stay at the treehouses but since we don't own at SSR thats never gonna happen. So I need your help. TIA! |

We will be in a 2 bedroom Concierge next month. The only reason that we are staying in Concierge is to try it out first hand.
I don't expect to stay there again, the rooms don't have a great view, the offerings are meager, and I can make my own bed and buy a lot of chocolate bars for less money. I know that many love Concierge and more power to them. It's not my cup of tea, but I believe that you have to try everything Disney at least once. ![]() Bill

A couple years ago before DVC, we stayed on the Concierge level to do the Sunrise Safari, we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast items. The other food was not as big a deal. After three days we switched to the GF hotel.
Now I'm a big Cappucino drinker, plus every morning we had bagels with cream cheese, strawberries, cereal, juice, we were quite full after our concierge continental breakfast. When we got to the next hotel, we found out that the "complimentary" breakfast we got every morning would have cost us $20 each paying out of pocket! On the other hand, the Concierge level rooms don't have a Savannah view. The main advantage of the Concierge level is that you can take the Sunrise Safari tour, if you're not going to do that, with a family, I would take the extra bathroom!

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the only Concierge rooms are in Jambo house. And at Jambo, you can't "legally" have 5 people in a 1-BR. Therefore, this actually might be a moot point, as you couldn't have your whole family in the 1-BR together to take advantage of the safari, concierge offerings, etc. I might be wrong though?

And if you make Uncle Joe sleep in the bathtub, you can fit 6.

There 5 2BR lock-offs that are concierge, all at Jambo, and all on the sixth floor directly above the lobby. Three of those have savanna view and two pool and view is not guaranteed. Moreover the particular savanna view is OK but not one of the better. Personal desire really drives the choice. There are many who highly desire concierge with the ability of having a concierge lounge for food items (mostly finger foods) and drinks, someone at your beck and call to do reservations, daily maid service and turn down service at night (included in point cost), and able to book the sunrise safari (separate cost). Then there are a lot more who couldn't care less about concierge. So it is really a personal decison, do you want the concierge services or do you want the bigger 2BR rather than 1BR? Majority would probably vote bigger room.

Thanks everyone. I know I learned about the 5 people in a one bedroom not too long ago as well. I thought it was just Kidani too but nope. I would do a 2 bedroom but that would be 210 points and well we have enough points I just don't want to use them all for that especially if I can get another long weekend with just DH and I. Still not sure I still have a little while. We will be staying in a 1 bdroom in kidani in a few weeks so if thats too small for us then I guess I will know the answer to my questions. Although for 5 nights I might be able to make it work. UGHHH I hate all the decisions LOL
