Which Parade?

I noticed Disneyland is planning on bringing the "Celebrate a Street Party" parade back in the new year, even though the "what will you celebrate?" year is over. I thought this parade was lacking the Disney feeling in many ways, and was very sloppy compared to most of their stuff. I see alot of people reflecting on the DEP instead, so I am curious what everyone's choice would be if they had a choice. I much prefer DEP, it just never gets old for me

I have never seen DEP but I did not like the Street Party parade at all. I like a real parade I guess.

I would be so happy to see the Electrical Parade back in Disneyland! I wasn't impressed with the Celebrate street show thing. I did like the Mickey-shaped confetti, though.

I'm so glad there will be a "real" parade (Holiday Parade) when we are there in three weeks (I just love saying that! Three weeks! Three weeks! Three weeks! J). Dancing through the streets is all well and good, but give me some cool floats with organized dancing and performing any day! Maybe it goes back to my childhood of watching the ELP at DL and marching with a band through high school. My marching band even performed at DL way back in '87!

I'm bummed to miss the ELP, but so glad that the Celebrate "parade" isn't going on while we're there. The last time I saw the ELP was when DH and I went to DL (when it was still DL and not DLR) in October 1996. It was supposed to be the last weekend ELP was ever going to be shown and the park was absolutely packed! It was definitely an October precurser of falls to come! I know they had to close the gates one night while we were there. Of course, they ended up extending ELP for a couple more months and then brought it back. Again and again. At this point, I would be really surprised if they dropped it forever. But, maybe they keep it special for people by limiting it's availability.

There was an announcement about a month back that they are continuing the "What Will You Celebrate" theme with the "Give a Day, Get a Day" promotion next year.

Well.... it's not really a parade. It's a Street Party as the name indicates. So, if you are looking for a traditional parade, a street party is not going to be your favorite because, well, it's not a parade.

Also, of the 2 choices you offered in the poll, I think ELP is traditionally a fan-favorite because it is so unique and shows up for short runs (which keeps it special).

There is also the Pixar Parade, there was the Parade of Dreams (which was fabulous), and if you want to include it, the HSM Pep Rally.

Ooooh, ya, that was a good parade! With The Lion King being such a popular movie, I am surprised that I don't see as much centered around it in the parks.

I love the Electrical Parade, hate the "street party"...the only problem is, the Electrical Parade can only be run at night, so...there would be no afternoon parade. I wish they would bring in a new, REAL parade next year considering it's DL's 55th anniversary.

There's no comparison between DEP and Celebrate A Street Party. One rocks, the other one clogs up a perfectly good walkway.

Now HERE'S a smackdown:

Disneyland Electrical Parade
'or'...for those who've seen it at WDW,
Spectromagic

I would DIE if Spectromagic came to DLR!!!!

While Spectro is wonderful, I would take ELP every time.

Ha! I knew it! Celebrate was Disneyland's WORST parade to date. It looked like it belonged in DCA.

Electrical Parade FTW!

The Electrical Parade has a lot going for it--it's awesome, pretty, full of nostalgia and memories (one of my first memories of DL is sitting on my grandpa's shoulders to see the DEP), plus the music is totally fun. Celebrate... not so much.
