Red face I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired..........

.......I have had a rough year for some reason. I've gained a lot of weight due to inactivity I think (I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I tore my meniscus and I have a bad hip) I had the meniscus fixed and the hip is coming up for replacement on December 9th. Between now and then I'm just going to try and cultivate some new "habits" (I put it in parentheses because we all know it takes longer to make a habit stick than 3 weeks!) and things that I can continue after my surgery.

What is a healthy habit that you have implemented in your life? I'm looking for ideas........

Sounds like you've had it rough!

It'll be tough to do more physical activity until you get your hip replaced, I would think. However, once you do and you've got physical therapy exercises to do every day you can use that as a springboard to just keep on setting aside time every day for exercise.

Once you're mobile, park toward the back of the parking lot to get some extra steps in. If there's a set of stairs next to the escalator, take the stairs. Got a dog? I'm sure it would love a morning/evening walk every day.

Good luck with the surgery!

Good for you for making some changes so you can be healthier and feel better!

We made some fairly significant changes to our diet. My hubby has problems with inflammation so we got a list from the doc of all foods that are inflammation triggers and cut them out of our diet. Wow, what a difference that made! The pain he was having was significantly reduced in just one week!

Hubby also has a sweet tooth so instead of eating cakes and cookies, we took an idea from the Brown Derby's dessert menu. They serve a cup of fresh fruit with mango sorbet over the top. It is sooo good, and it tastes decadent (but isn't!).

And lastly, we have taken up evening walks as a family. We take the dog and walk at least a mile each night. I know this probably isn't an option for you especially with the hip issue, but increasing any physical activity helps you feel better so even stretches could help you some.

Good luck. My brother just had hip replacement surgery this past spring, and he feels so much better.

One food that is a major inflammation trigger is CORN. I know, I know. How do you remove corn from your diet, right? It's in a lot of products from cereal to tacos! Well you can find alternatives. It ain't easy, but it's worth it. It has really helped a lot. Ask your doc!
