1 Bedroom Suite ?

Can anyone tell me the difference between a 1 bedroom suite aft on the Wonder vs. a 1 bedroom suite midship? We have stayed midship and are contemplating staying in one that is aft. How do the floorplans/balconies/ noise levels differ? Thanks!

Well, if you are able to get one of the HA suites, they are gigantic in comparison to the non-HA suites. (I don't mean get one by lying or anything, I just mean if one is available, and you are able to book it.)

The living room area is much more spread out (assuming so a wheelchair can move around). There is a loooooong hallway coming into the suite. The bedroom too is much larger (again most likely so a wheelchair can move around). There are two sets of sliding doors (one off the dining room area and one off the living room area). The balcony is very large as well.

I don't know that there is that much difference between mid-ship and aft suites that are not HA. If you look at the ships deck plans, you can see the difference in space.

I have a ton of beautiful pics of our HA suite, but I have no clue how to post them here!

We were once upgraded to the Far Aft HA 1Br.

One draw back is that the showers are also HA - aka roll-in, no real edge. It was almost impossible to keep the bathroom from flooding. Small price to pay for the huge balconey

Yes, there is a significant difference between the four mid-ship and the remaining 'regular' one bedroom suites. If you go to the FAQ-Alphabetical stickey at the top of the forum and click on virtual stateroom tour you will see photos.

The regular 1 bedrooms are bascially two staterooms, one decorated like a master suit and the other like a living dining area, so you still have the long, narrow shape. The four mid-ship cabins are square and (pretty much a triple wide deal) and there is a lot more floor space.

Yep.

If you are going to be in the HA rooms with the roll in showers, make sure to ask for extra towels!

It is hard to keep the water from getting all of the floor! Especially if you are using a shower chair or shower table - then the water goes everywhere!

A couple of notes about the balconies for the very aft HA Cat 3's.

They are very large, but uncovered. So in the full sun they are HOT, especially on bare feet. Also, they have metal below the railing (not plexiglass). So, even as a tall family, while sitting down on the balcony, we couldn't see much except things in the distance. This is not a problem while at sea...water is water, but in port we couldn't take in the island while sitting on deck enjoying a glass of wine.

I took a peek at the adjoining HA Cat 3 on our last day and although the balcony was smaller than ours (but still large compared to regular cabins), I thought the over all layout of the cabin was better and would chose it over the one we had is it ever comes up again. Not that ours was bad by any stretch, we are talking good vs better.

General layout of 1 bed midship suite, depending on what one might be opposite.

We have stayed in 8600 and 8102(the VERY back of the ship). The bathroom flooding every time someone showers was a HUGE pain (may not bother others). what I really did not like was that when then sofa bed was pulled out in 8102, you could not walk thru the living room. It was also very strange to have people looking down on us when we were on the balcony. I wouldn't stay in one again.

The mid-ship cat.3's (8532/8032/8034/8534) are amazing.

That is so true. You have absolutely no privacy on your balcony. Everyone from Topsiders is looking down at you. Most are trying figure out how to get to that deck.

We didn't have a problem walking thru the living room with the sofa bed pulled out in 8102 on the Wonder.
We also didn't have a problem with major flooding of the shower. But we usually took a shower when in port since we were on 4 day cruises.

We really liked being able to access the verandah from the living room and the bedroom.

Room capacity is also different. The HA Cat 3s only sleep 4 people. All other Cat 3s sleep five (no pull down murphy bed in the HA). The midship CAT 3s have direct access from the bedroom to the verandah like the HA ones do.

We love the location, very quiet, plenty of space, great location for the safety drill (inside) but the metal balcony and lack of privacy from Topsiders can be annoying.

The balconies are HUGE and they used to have couple of deck chairs on each. But, our cruise in November 2008, someone in another HA suite opposite side from us got hit in the head with an apple while lying in the deck chair.

I have heard the lounge chairs have been removed but don't know if it's true or not and if it had anything at all to do with the apple incident

We prefer the midship 3s, but the HA are our second choice.
