Okay, so here's MY question about parade taping.

We're arriving Dec. 4th in the evening. Of course the kids are going to want to go to MK on Sat, the 5th, which is a schedule parade taping day. I know the park is open late that night, so does anyone know when it will be safe to get into the park? We have a breakfast ressie that morning, and can do something else until later in the day. How long does the taping go? Can we get in the park anyway and just go around it and get to the back of the park for attractions? Or is it better to just wait until 3 or 4 and head over then? Any ideas? I know they're going to want to get over there at some point on Saturday. I can only hold them off for so long....

Thanks,

Deb

We are also arriving on the 4th and MK is our park for the 5th. I have done some research on here to find out what to do.

Here is what I have learned so far. (I am relatively new...so please correct me experts if I have anything wrong here....I want smooth sailing as well.

1. The taping sets up and starts at around 7:30am and continues until 2pm.
2. Seems like the best advice I have found to avoid crowded Main Street is to jump on the RR and get off in FrontierLand. (It will be weird not walking down Main Street towards the castle, but we do what we have to.)
3. Don't avoid MK just because of the taping. I have read on here that the rest of the park is fairly empty...everyone wants to get in on the parade action.

Hope I have helped and have a fun trip.

That is definately the best plan; take the RR around and get off at one of the alternative spots - you will find some places with virtually little wait time.

We are actually going to get off at Toontown, so we can jump on the rope drop for Tinkerbell.....

Be aware that the train does not stop at Toontown in the mornings until the Toontown rope drop.

Okay, great! I definitely won't be there at rope drop but we have breakfast at GF that morning so we'll head over right after.

Thanks so much!

We're arriving on the evening of the 3rd. We're going to MK on the 4th, which is a day I'm worried about, too. I like the idea of the train to Frontiertown and starting at the back of the parks. We're also having breakfast at the GF on the morning of our arrival, but have no intention of doing rope drop, as we're going to be there late for the Christmas party that night Going to Epcot on the 5th LOL

We too are planning on 12/5 as our MK day and I was also worried how we were going to handle the crowd situation trying to get to the back of the park. I love the RR idea, thanks for that tip . And I agree with you totally on how people should not avoid MK due to the taping....or maybe I shouldn't of said that so more people can stay away

Yes, we are going a bit late that morning, because we are going to spend the night before at Epcot drinking around the world - if you know what I mean....

I was in MK for taping last year and once I got past main street the rest of the park was not very crowded. I just cut through tomorrow land to get to all the rides. It was neat to see the floats and characters line up in liberty square getting ready to be taped. They hung out there for a while and I got some neat pictures.
