Going to arrive Dec 25

So I am wondering... We are staying in a resort in davenport, about 20 mins away. My question is, are places such a restaurants... going to be open on the 25th or should we prepare to find everything closed?

About 4 years ago we drove home from Disney on Christmas day and the only places open that we found along the way were Waffle Houses. I am not sure what will be around in your area, and what might be open. I am thinking that maybe last year IHOPs were open (but I could be wrong), but I do know Waffle Houses are open.

It has now become a tradition for us to drive to a Waffle House on Christmas day to eat in honor of our memories of our 17 hour drive from Disney.

Well we left very early on Dec. 25th, and we were staying in the Boardwalk area, so we had breakfast at Tubbi's (which now has a new name, but basically it is the 24 hour cafeteria located in the Dolphin hotel at the Boardwalk). It never closes, not even on Christmas (at least it didn't back then). So that is open. And I am sure all of the WDW restaurants are open also. We just had to leave really early to make the 17 hour drive, and that was all that was open at 5:30 in the morning).

Hi ducati748_4life,
Since Christmas week is one of the busiest weeks in Orlando for travel you should find most of the restaurants around the Disney area open. Most of the business that cater to tourist business will not close for Holidays. If you are in more of a locals area you may find things not open though the closer you get to Disney you should not have any problem. Hope that helps. Have a wonderful trip!

We stayed at Buena Vista Suites last year at Thanksgiving. Lesson learned: eat at the parks. The neighborhood rolled up the sidewalks on Thanksgiving. How much do you like gas station food?

Granted it's not a Christmas experience, but I figure that the holidays are similar in restaurant availability.

Yes! I keep hoping my kids forget, because it is a tradition I am willing to let go, but they remind me. Maybe this year they will forget. But it is sort of a family joke. We never eat at Waffle House, only that day we drove back from WDW and on the Christmas days since.

A lot of coffee shop or breakfast type restaurants on Interestates tend to be open.

And I have found that on Christmas day there is never any problem finding a good Oriental restaurant open.

Some will be ... some won't. There's no way for us to tell you exactly what will be open and what will not be.

Logic dictates that along a major interstate, you will find gas stations and restaurants open on Christmas day. It's one of the busiest travel days of the year, so it stands to reason that things will be open. If you need to be absolutely certain of exactly what is and is not open, my suggestion would be to plot out your trip on I-10 and figure out where you're likely to be stopping. Search that area via Mapquest or Google Maps for restaurants and then go to their websites and see if they're open on Christmas. That's the only way to be totally certain.

As for Disney area, you'll find virtually all of the gas stations and restaurants open on Christmas in the immediate Disney area. As you get farther from Disney (on into Davenport, for example), you'll find fewer places open. Your best bet will be to look for places close to Highway 27, I-4 and all of those other major travel interchanges. You'll find the most places open in those areas.

Hey, that's my favorite movie ever. On Christmas Eve I keep that movie on my television and never change the channel. I even go to sleep with it on and it seems like when I wake up during the night to turn over or something, I am right back at the same place I fell asleep I cannot get enough of that.

I would say the only restaurants that would be opened outside of WDW is Denny's, Waffle House and International House Of Pancakes.
