Lifts in restaurants?
Do all of the restaurants that have more than one floor have lifts? I'm particularly interested in Walt's but any info you have on any restaurant could be useful.
Also, what's the atmosphere like in the hotel restaurants in the evening. The only one we've tried at night was the Parkside Diner which had okay food but felt a bit like eating in a works canteen. Maybe we were just unlucky. Ta,

Walts has a lift, my fiancé used it last time we went. When we ate at the Newport bay it had a formal yet relaxed atmosphere, and has great food! It was the non buffet one( I can't remember the name!). The Sequoia lodge had a madcap, loud atmosphere! Not that pleasant!

I am about 90% sure that Walts has a lift - there was certainly something that looked like a lift.
In terms of atmosphere ... for me ... 1. Cafe Mickey in the evening. 2. Auberge 3. Inventions 4. Walts 5. Blue Lagoon

I've only eaten in 2 hotel restaurants, once at Santa Fe and it was a buffet, nothing special and no atmosphere and once at Sequoia Lodge, where we had a fabulous meal, really nice atmosphere, lovely waiter and table service, buffet starters and dessert, but we chose our mains.
I'm pretty sure though that SL has now changed to complete buffet style too, which is a shame, because IMO and we do enjoy buffets, but they do have that canteen feel, I think it's serving yourself that does it.

Thanks for the info, but especially your opinions. We are staying in SL and had it on the 'back burner' if we're particularly tired one evening.
We really enjoyed Cafe Mickey but want to try a few different places. As we have the free meal vouchers want to get the best out of them too. Do you know whether Billy Bob's is suitable for children in the evening? We dropped in on the way past one night last time to check out the line dancing but I can't remember whether there were any children there or not. Inventions sounds like a popular place on here - how easy would it be to check it out prior to going there?

Inventions is very suitable for children as they have the character buffet. It is easy to check out, just go upstairs in the DLH and follow the long corridor past the shop and you will come to the restaurant. I'm sure they will let you take a look around.

We had an evening reservation for Billy Bobs but ended up walking out because they were blasting out heavy rock music and we couldn't find the lift from the ground floor! I walked up to the 1st floor just to have a look around and found the lift but it didn't appear to go down to the ground floor.
We didn't bother asking because the atmosphere just put us off - we all like rock music (hubby and son play guitar) but it was just too loud for a family meal.

Forgot to say, we didn't have a problem with wheelchair access anywhere else but we had to book standard tickets for Buffalo Bills which were right on the top tier (accessed via the lift) as the premium seats were down wooden steps.

Thanks T J - unfortunately we can't go to Buffalo Bill's as my nephew has asthma which could be aggravated by the dust particles thrown up by the animals.
Can you eat downstairs at Billy Bob's, and if not, can you see the dance floor from the restaurant? Just trying to get as much as possible into a short visit!

It depends where you are seated in Billy Bobs.
We were there last year, with 3 children. We were seated in the room at the very back of the building, where the hotplate section of the buffet is. All the kids liked the food selection, we did too I have to say. Because we were at the back of the building, we didn't find the music in the ground floor bar area to be very noisy at all, we could certainly hear ourselves talk to each other. There are 3 bits to the restaurant area at Billy Bobs, all on the 3rd floor. The back section, a side area next to it, and a front area, which would overlook the bar etc.
