Cookie Bake Sale...

I'm looking for ideas for a cookie bake sale...popular, delicious cookies? Cute ideas for presentation? It's just cookies though, not a bake sale.

We had a bake sale with our cub scout fund raiser last year. Almost everyone baked something chocolate so the few items without chocolate really flew off the table. I made plain old shortbread (Butter, Sugar, Flour - really basic and really easy to make) for an alternative there's also spiced or pecan shortbread. The beautiful thing about shortbread is you can make it really seasonal by rolling it out and using a seasonal cookie cutter instead of cutting into strips. Another huge hit was the rice crispy treats.

Cookies and rice krispie treats made on sticks like lollypops. Dip some in chocolate (not all the way, maybe just half) and sprinkles-- these are a big hit with the kids.

Cookie alternatives, like chex mix or fudge, and brownies. I would stay away from cupcakes.

Items that are peanut free and labeled as such (and kept away from the other items.

Sugar cookies in seasonal shapes, some plain, some with pretty frosting or sprinkles, some with candies.

I agree some shortbreads, maybe the ones with some jelly in the middle (thumbprints)--depending on your target audience, "mature" people love these!

Oh, for presentation put the cookies on sticks in baskets like a flower arrangement (floral foam in the basket, and tissue paper around to make it pretty. And other cookies in interesting baskets, bowls and platters. Multi levels are always nice, cover the table in a table cloth and put boxes under to make the levels. But if your target audience is small children make sure the things directed at them are at eye level!

And clear pricing. Either on the bags with the items or clearly marked by each display.

do Rice Krispie things count as cookies? we had a bake sale last week and I stole the Rice Krispie Sushi idea from the California Grill I got some green foam trays from the grocery store and our chinese place gave us 12 sets of chposticks and wrapped it up to look like the sushi the store sells they made pretty good money on them compared to what they make for a plate of cookies

Pilgrim Hats

These take about 10 minutes to make, no baking..adorable and a big hit where Im from around Thanksgiving time.

Ingredients
1 cup vanilla frosting
7 drops yellow food coloring
32 miniature peanut butter cups
1 package (11-1/2 ounces) fudge-striped cookies
Tube of Orange writing frosting

Directions
In a small shallow bowl, combine frosting and food coloring. Remove paper liners from peanut butter cups.
Holding the bottom of a peanut butter cup, dip top of cup in yellow frosting. Position over center hole on the bottom of cookie, forming the hatband and crown. Add a buckle of a squirt of orange frosting gel (the one you write on a cake with). Repeat with remaining cups and cookies. Yield: 32 cookies.
