Why crowd level 8 on Dec 16th? - The DIS Discussion Forums

I am not one to dwell on crowd calendars but I still take a peek. So today I look and it is 4-5 the week of Dec 13th-18th, except Dec 16th is an 8. Very curious as to why a Wednesday is higher than a Friday. Any thoughts?

I was just wondering about this EXACT same day! It seems like such an oddity...an 8 in the middle of the sea of 4's, 5's and 6's....I can't figure it out either. Hoping it's wrong because we're only there three days and I want low crowds to get everything done.

Bumping, so maybe someone will reveal the secret!

There are numerous posts on the boards about this and also on the UG blog about Dec 16th.It is because it is the only NON-MVMCP day sandwiched between 2 parties.Remember the calnedar numbers are based on the MK

Lot of the same questions in numerous recent threads here. Here's the summary:

Xmas Party is on 3 of 4 nights surrounding the 16th. That means the park closes at 7:00, so those without hoppers that aren't going to the party would prefer to avoid the MK.
One of a few Specto / Wishes nights
Last "normal" specto / wishes for the year - will be xmas theme the rest of the time
The crowd calendar is ONLY based on wait times at the MK - not all the parks.
Theres a rumor Mickey Mouse might make a live appearance

so would the monday night, and that is EMH at MK so i would think that would be worse

You would have to read the blog about it for further info,I am not sure of the how and why they came to this decison .
